Introduction

The BudgetWise Billing program from DTE Energy is designed to minimize spikes in the monthly bill during high-use months. Monthly payments of those enrolled are calculated based on the previous year's energy usage. However, DTE Energy does a quarterly review to determine if the monthly amount needs to be adjusted. Your monthly payment may increase or decrease each quarter, depending on usage. Any balances are paid and overpayments are credited to your account. Log In to DTE Energy

Before logging in, ensure you select the right type of account. Select Residential or Business, found on the upper left corner of the page. Check the screenshot to know where its located.

Click Sign In

Note: If you will settle your bill, You can also tap Guest Pay if you don't want to sign in to your account. Those who prefer this option will need to provide their account number or account holder details including the complete address and the zip code. Just follow the on-screen instructions on how to proceed to payment.

Enter your Email Address and Password and Click Sign In

Look at the Current Bill

You'll be taken to the Billing & Payment tab after signing in. The amount under Total amount is your current bill. There's an overcharge if your current bill is lower than your calculated monthly bill by DTE Energy.

Don't worry though because if you are overcharged, there's no need to do anything. The overcharged amount will be credited to your next bill. Just make sure you check your bill after to see if the amount has been reflected. Account holders need to pay their amount due within or 17 days after the bill is sent.

File a Complaint

The next step is for those who have other billing or service concerns with DTE Energy. File a complaint online before calling DTE Energy. Use this link and click File a Complaint.

Fill Out All Details

Enter all the details including your account number and a detailed explanation of the issue. Be as detailed as possible to get a faster resolution.

Click Submit

After submitting your concern, follow the instructions on the next page or wait for a customer representative to contact you.

All customers are eligible to participate in the BudgetWise Billing program to avoid skyrocketing bills on high-use months. You may be overcharged if you use less energy every month.
