Whether you use Cash App to send and receive money or use it to trade stocks and invest in cryptocurrency, if your Cash App account is showing the wrong balance, you should figure out what is happening as soon as possible. If you act quickly enough, you may be able to recover your money if it is missing, prevent any further losses from occurring, or at least set your mind at ease. There are several different potential causes of the problem.

What You'll Need

Some potentially likely reasons for an incorrect Cash App balance are:Pending transactionsTemporary holdsOutdated app informationReversed transactionsPrior negative balancesHacking

Go to the Cash App home screen.

Tap on your profile picture.

A drop down menu will appear.

Scroll down to the bottom of the menu.

Tap on the Sign Out option.

Sign back in to your Cash App account.

By signing out and signing in again, you refresh the app's data, so that it has your most recent account balance. This might fix the problem. If it doesn't, continue with the next step.

Go to the Google Play app or the Apple App Store, depending on what type of device you have.

Look for a Cash App update.

If there is one, install it. The problem could be the result of an out-of-date app acting in a strange manner.

If that didn't help, open the app, sign in to it, and tap on the clock icon in the lower right corner of the screen.

Look through your recent transactions for one that is still pending.

Your balance could seem low because money you expected to have coming in might not actually have arrived yet, but will soon.

You should also look for holds placed by a company you recently did business with.

Some companies, such as restaurants and car rental companies, place a temporary hold on your account, freezing access to some of your funds for a while, so they can make sure they get paid for everything. This could be the reason why your account seems lower than it should be, and the problem should resolve itself in a day or two.

Keep an eye out for transactions you didn't make, and that no other authorized user of the account made.

If you find any, your account may have been hacked, and you need to inform Cash App immediately.

Check your balance history.

If your balance was negative recently, some of the money you have had come in since then went to making up for that.

Contact your bank and see if it has reversed a Cash App transaction recently, for some reason.

If it did, then funds you were expecting would not be in your account. This is an issue you must work out with your bank.

If you nothing else has worked, talk to a Cash App customer support representative and tell them what the problem is, and describe the steps you have taken so far.

Why does GetHuman Write How-to Guides for Cash App Problems?

GetHuman has been working for over 10 years on sourcing information about big organizations like Comcast in order to help customers resolve customer service issues faster. We started with contact information and fastest ways to reach a human at big companies. Particularly ones with slow or complicated IVR or phone menu systems. Or companies that have self-serve help forums instead of a customer service department. From there, we realized that consumers still needed more detailed help solving the most common problems, so we expanded to this set of guides, which grows every day. And if you spot any issues with our What do I do if my Xfinity TV or internet is out? guide, please let us know by sending us feedback. We want to be as helpful as possible. If you appreciated this guide, please share it with your favorite people. Our free information and tools is powered by you, the customer. The more people that use it, the better it gets.
