How to Delete Your Cash App Account

Cash App allows users to send or receive funds from others through wire transfers, but many people are moving to other apps, or they have experienced an information breach on Cash App, and want to delete their accounts. Understanding Cash App Data Policy

Cash App complies with CCPA (California Consumer Privacy Act). This gives you options regarding controlling certain data including:

  1. Your right to access your personal information.
  2. The right to delete personal information.
  3. You can also "opt-out" of the sale of your personal information to third parties.

Accessing Your Personal Data

Before deleting your Cash App, you will want to download and save a copy of your complete transaction history in the event you need it in the future. To access your personal information on Cash App, follow these steps:

  1. From a web browser, log into your Cash App account.
  2. Select "Settings."
  3. Choose "Download Your Info" under the "Your Info" tab.
  4. To view your complete payment history, click "Activity" and then select "Statements." To save a copy of your payment history, choose "Export" to download a complete transaction history.

Deleting Your Cash App

Once you have downloaded and saved your personal data and transaction history in a file, you can now delete your account. Follow these steps to delete your Cash App account:

  1. Log into your Cash App account.
  2. Select "Support" from the menu options.
  3. Choose "Something Else" from the list provided.
  4. Go into "Account Settings" in the menu options.
  5. Choose "Delete Your Personal Information."
  6. Click on "Contact Support."
  7. Choose "Chat."
  8. When the chat box opens, type in "Delete account and personal information."
  9. The representative will be able to walk you through the process to permanently delete your Cash App account.

Take Note

Before you close your account, you should check that all fund transfers have been completed and you've moved any money in your Cash App to your bank account. Once you delete your account, your username or information is no longer accessible. If anyone tries to send money to you via Cash App once it is closed, the sender will receive an error message alerting them that the account is no longer valid. If you have stocks or cryptocurrency through Cash App, you must sell those before you can delete your account. All Cash App balances must be at zero before you will be allowed to delete your account.
