As an active USPS city carrier, you are not required to start Medicare before you retire. Once you reach age 65, you would automatically be enrolled in Medicare Part A if you already receive retirement benefits from Social Security or the Railroad Retirement Board. You can apply for Medicare Part B if you want it before your retirement, but it's not mandatory. Upon retirement, you may apply for Medicare Part B during your special enrollment period. It's always a good idea to consider your healthcare needs and consult with a benefits specialist before deciding when to sign up for parts of Medicare.

Once your Thrift Savings Plan (TSP) loan is fully paid, action to stop payment should be automatically processed by USPS Human Resources Shared Services. Your loan payments are deducted straight from your pay, and once the loan balance reaches zero, these automatic deductions should cease automatically. Therefore, you shouldn't have to do anything. However, it's essential to keep a keen eye on your paystubs to ensure that deductions stop as expected. In the event of any inconsistencies, it is encouraged to reach out to TSP or your payroll department promptly.

As a retiree from USPS Human Resources Shared Services, you should expect your retirement benefits to be processed soon after your retirement date. Typically, the first payment is made within a few weeks of retirement. However, each person's situation may vary, and there might be delays depending on specific circumstances or complexities related to your service. Therefore, if you haven't received your retirement benefits yet, it may be in process. Your payments should come regularly after the initial payment.
