What are the hours and when should I call?

ADT operates the call center for this 800-280-6946 phone number 24 hours, 7 days. The short answer is that you should call on a Tuesday. This observation and the following section are based on analysis of a sample set of 300 calls made in the last 90 days using our free, web-based phone (see above).
An important note: busy times vs hold times vs best time to call
When we refer to busy or less busy times, we are talking about the volume of calls. The busiest times are when the most people are calling this ADT phone number (least busy times have fewer people calling). This high call volume does not necessarily mean that you will have a long hold time when you call. Companies like ADT staff their call centers differently based on the time of day and day of the week, so you may experience a shorter wait on hold at the busiest of times. When we refer to the best time to call, we are referring to the optimal combination of lower call volume and shorter wait times.

The least busy time to call

The least busy day to call ADT is Saturday. The most busy day to call is Monday, which averages 67% more phone calls by comparison. Again, this is based on a sample of 300 calls made with our AI-powered, web-based phone in the last 90 days.

Calling this ADT Customer Number

We have had a spat of break-ins within my neighborhood and while I think it's just a one-off occurrence, it has me thinking about home security. It may be time to look into ADT just so that I have peace of mind, which led me to do some research on different companies. ADT just kept popping out at me though because they are obviously one of the biggest name brands. I decided the best way to see was just by calling and talking to someone about my options.

ADT Security Services likely gets a lot of phone calls from people who want to start services or change services. I imagine they also have billing issues to deal with and other similar issues. Therefore, I didn't really know how long I would end up on the phone waiting, but I figured if I could get to someone within half an hour then it would be worth the wait. I don't know if I would have just hung up if it was longer, but it only ended up being a minute. I was quite impressed by that and its certainly something I will keep in mind when making my final decision.

When I first called, a recorded message greeted me with, "Welcome to ADT. To maintain excellent service all calls to and from ADT may be recorded. To start new ADT service for your home, press 1. For your business, press 2. For scheduled installation, press 3. If you are already an ADT customer, press 4." After I chose option 1 since I wanted a new service, the automated assistant responded, "Please enter your five-digit zip code to see if you qualify for any promotions in your area."

It then confirmed the zip code by reading it back to me and informed me that my call may be monitored or recorded for training purposes. I settled back to wait for a minute, but the hold music didn't even start to play before an agent picked up. Almost instantly I heard, "Thank you for calling ADT Security Services, my name is Alexa, who do I have the pleasure of speaking with?"

Not only was I quite pleased with the quick response time, but Alexa spoke very clear English and was able to answer all of my questions. They were extremely helpful and addressed all of my concerns in a friendly manner. I was impressed with the service and with the timely nature of my call, so I have a lot to think about now.

Why Customers Call ADT

If you have time to do a bit of reading before you call ADT, we recommend you read over some of our problem-specific articles.

What is the warranty on ADT equipment?

ADT provides a limited warranty on their equipment. The warranty coverage period varies depending on the specific equipment. For most ADT security equipment, such as control panels, sensors, and cameras, the warranty period extends for 90 days from the installation date. However, some equipment, such as batteries, have a shorter warranty period of 30 days. ADT's warranty guarantees that if any covered equipment malfunctions due to a manufacturer's defect during the warranty period, ADT will repair or replace the equipment free of charge. The warranty does not cover damage caused by misuse, modifications, or unauthorized repairs. To take advantage of the warranty, customers need to notify ADT of the equipment malfunction and adhere to the warranty terms and conditions.

How Do I Recover My ADT Account?

In six easy-to-follow steps, ADT allows you to gain back access to your account if you get locked out. All you need to do is click on "Forgot my Password" to start the recovery process. Use your security question to gain back access to your account. Alternatively, use your email to reset the account password. However, remember to create a password that is not easy to forget and choose a security question you can remember.

Are there any contract cancellation fees with ADT?

ADT does have contract cancellation fees. If you choose to terminate your monitoring services before your agreement expires, you may be required to pay either 75% of the remaining balance or 100% of the monthly charges due for the remaining contract term, depending on which is greater. These fees are in place to cover costs related to equipment subsidies and promotional discounts provided during the initial service term. However, if you cancel during the first six months and return the equipment, you may be eligible for a refund of monitoring fees paid to date. It is important to carefully review the terms and conditions of your agreement to fully understand the cancellation fees and any applicable conditions.

ADT Customer Help Desk / Web Support

adt.com - Customer Service
Online customer service support
As a last, sometimes only, resort- ADT customer service can be accessed through their website. This can entail digging through help articles before finding a form and "being allowed" to submit a problem to their team, and rarely leads to a real-time conversation, which is why GetHuman does not recommend this unless it's the only way.
