I recently used eBay authenticate to sell a Louis Vuitton handbag. The handbag was in great condition, used only a handful of times, stored in its original dust bag . I initially photographed the bag to sell on my own, while considering whether or not to use eBay authenticate. After taking photos, I returned the handbag to the dust bag, placed it inside the original box, with the original gift receipt, and placed the box inside the original Louis Vuitton shopping bag (from the original store of purchase in Carmel-by-the-Sea, California). I did not move the complete package after that. That same day, I decided to use eBay authenticate service and brought the entire package to FedEx. At FedEx, I specifically opened the Louis Vuitton box and showed how that the handbag does not fill the entire box and could easily slide around within the box during shipping. I specifically requested packing material to be placed inside the box to protect the handbag from sliding around. I requested this twice, with two different FedEx employees present.**On October *th I received a notification from eBay authenticate stating that my item had been listed. **https:**www.ebay.com*itm*LOUIS-VUITTON-Damier-Azur-Canvas-Galliera-PM-Bag-*************?nordt*true&orig*cvip*true&rt*nc&*trksid*p*******.m*****.l*******The listing description and photos include scratches and damage that were not present when I packaged the handbag., specifically scratches to the gold face plate, as well as creasing and marks. I immediately contacted eBay Authenticate customer service, per website instruction, and explained my concerns. I was told to speak to FedEx. I was also told I could have the item shipped back to me. I did not see how the latter would be the appropriate solution, as I would receive a damaged bag, despite having sent an undamaged bag. I also explained that the FexEx account is set up with eBay, not with me. I did not pay to the FedEx service. eBay paid for the service. eBay insures the items damaged in shipping, per the eBay Authenticate FAQ page.**A case manager named Teri called me back later that morning. Teri initially told me eBay is not responsible for damage from shipping unless it is from water. Then Teri stated that all items are opened under video surveillance, and she would check the video footage for both damage to the bag, as well as appropriate packaging within the Louis Vuitton box to prevent damage during shipping.**Teri called me back to inform me that the bag had not been packaged according to my requests. Teri told me she would take * steps:***Will give me $** eBay certificate***Will request Authenticate seller to clean faceplate with microfiber cloth, removing any dust and smudges, retake the photo and relist the item with a new price to reflect the changes***Will follow up with me once she has spoken with the seller**None of these things happened. In the meantime, the handbag was relisted with an even lower price. I did not hear from Teri. The bag sold for a price that reflects the damage. Bags in a similar condition to the bag I delivered to FedEx have sold on eBay within the past ** days for $***-$*** more than the price for which mine was listed and sold. **A $** eBay certificate does not cover this loss. To add insult to injury, I did not ever receive the promised $** credit. I did not receive the level of service promised by the eBay authenticate service. Additionally, the steps I was told would be taken were not taken. And finally, no one has followed up with me. I would like to address this in a timely and fair manner.
