Yesterday, *******, I took a trip from DC (IAD) to NYC (LGA). When I landed in NY, I decided to take an Uber to my hotel rather than a Taxi in an attempt to save money. I was typing in my hotel’s location into the Uber app when a man approached me and said, “Are you looking for an Uber?” I said “yes, I’m just typing in the address now.” The man told me he is an Uber driver and had a cancellation, so I could hop in his vehicle now and we’d be on our way. I told him I wasn’t comfortable with that as I wanted to pay through the app so I had a record, receipt and could tip him. He said I could pay with the same credit card I use in Uber and he’d email a receipt to me. He had an Uber sticker, so I figured this was ok.**Everything was fine until we got to the hotel which took about **-** minutes. The total bill was $*** and some change. I expected maybe $** or so. When I questioned him, he told me it’s more expensive because he is an Uber SUV driver. I said I didn’t know that (which I didn’t. i.e. I didn't realize it was more expensive to ride in an SUV) and that he should have informed me of this when he was talking to me at the airport. He said Uber doesn’t allow him to say it’s Uber SUV nor that it’s more expensive. I told him that didn't make sense. I'm not up on all of the different pricing variations for Uber drivers nor realize that it would cost more to ride in an SUV. Honestly, I didn't give the vehicle type a second thought.**I was not happy and told him he should be ashamed of himself for taking advantage of someone like that. He just kept on saying, it’s Uber SUV and is more expensive. (i.e. Ignoring my complaint) I have been trying for two days to locate somewhere to express my dissatisfaction and to lodge a formal complaint, but because I didn't use the Uber app (going against my initial "gut" feeling due to his persuasiveness), I have been unsuccessful in my attempts to contact Uber.**In case it helps, I reviewed my CC statement and see the following information on this fare:**Status: Approved*Date: ********* *:**:** PM*Merchant: SQ Uber Black * SUV*Amount: $***.***Original County: United States*Auth Number: *******Auth Type: Initial Request**What do I expect? I expect Uber to credit some of this money back to me as though I had taken the normal Uber X ride and I expect Uber to discipline this individual as I believe he has likely done this same thing to others and it NEEDS TO STOP! (sorry for the caps, but this man needs to stop taking advantage of people!)**FYI: I just looked at my Uber app, and I see I usually do Uber X. I see Pool, Uber X and Uber XL as options. I never noticed, until today, that if you swipe left, you'll also see options for Black and Black SUV (which is the most expensive - over *xs the rate of Uber X!!
