First, I am a retired Firefighter*Paramedic in the State of Texas. As such I was able to immediately recognize a pregnant woman in obvious distress standing outside our hotel. She confirmed what I already suspected. She is in active labor, her water has broken, contractions based upon her frequency of discomforts were at most *-* minutes apart.**I immediately offered to call *** and assist as I could. She stated she had already requested a ride from Uber to the hospital.**The app indicated she needed to meet the driver who was nowhere to be seen. He was at the Extended Stay next door to our location. An easy and honest mistake. As the hotels are both extended stays with slightly different names. I too initially made the error when I first arrived so this I do understand.**I am a witness to the following interactions and personally heard these any statements made to the driver first hand and his response to her:**The lady had called the driver at least twice already via cell phone. She desperately tried to tell him that she was located at the hotel literally next door that she was pregnant and needed to get to the hospital.**Despite being told these things, which the driver may not have heard as he was continually yelling and over talking her. Then he hung up on her. At what became the conclusion to the phone call was a result of him hanging up on her.**A decision needed to be made quickly. I attempted to contact him myself using her phone to get him to drive next door to us. He answered and immediately hung up the phone on me twice without saying a word.**I started to call *** at which point a couple witnessing the events as they unfolded and offered to take her to the Medical City Hospital, Lewisville located in Lewisville, Tx which is only *.* miles from where we were located. Any means of transportation there would be faster than any response time by local EMS.**The driver did call back as I was assisting the woman to the vehicle. I attempted the same approach and attitude with me. I stated to him he needed to be quiet and listen. As I attempted to again explain the situation to him he said to me, “How I am supposed to know she is pregnant.” Before I could even respond to that remark by him he again hung up on me mid-conversation.**The couple departed to the hospital with the pregnant woman. I had contacted *** when the couple said they would take her where I explained to *** the situation, the reason for the call, and that her transportation to the hospital was resolved.**As I walked to hotel next door I recognized the vehicle described by the Uber App and motioned to the driver to approach. It was my hope and intention to explain the situation to him fully and that we really needed to pause and listen to us. He slowly approached me and when I move to the side thinking he would stop and speak with me the moment he had just enough clearance he quickly accelerated and speed past me necessitating the need to take a couple of steps back from his line of travel.**I wish I had the his name from the app which I unfortunately do not as getting her on her way far outweighed any desire I had to collect information. i do not have the phone number assigned to him nor do I have the customers name.**What I do have is the color, make, model, and tag number to his vehicle. While this may not be your most disireable means of identifying a particular driver it most certainly can be done:**Make: Nissan*Model: Roogue*Color: Blue*Tag: JFS **** Texas**My personal opinion is that this driver should be terminated, period. At a minimum suspended for a long enough period of time that he seeks employment elsewhere. All due to his complete lack of cooperation, unwillingness to listen, his poor poor poor customer service skills, his rudeness in more ways than I have described, his lying to me of what he did and didn’t know, his tangential contribution adding unnecessary and unwarranted urgency to the overall situation, and direct actions and driving which directly placed me in personal danger as a direct result of his intentional, purposeful and dileberate choice and decision to accelerate and drive recklessly past me where I was in extremely close proximity and extraordinarily close to his line of travel. I believe and would surely hope that the culmination of all of these actions directly by him would be more than sufficient grounds for termination.**Scott A. Godbey****-***-******I understand from my research attempting to locate any type of telephone contact information for Uber, which apparently does not exist, I would hope that your company woul*d feel more than compelled to actually reach out to me in person via the provided phone number, which I learned is not Uber’s policy or practice. Maybe it is time to start.
