I am having issues with a Target gift card. My son has had this gift card in his possession as a gift. I assume it was $**-$** as a gift for a holiday from his relatives. I am not sure how old it is. We have no receipt for that gift card activation. It still had the foil on the back covering the card and access numbers. **My son and I went in the Target location in Lincoln, Nebraska, at **th & O street to purchase some basic supplies for him. My son has been in medical crisis with no employment and no money this year. We picked out about $** of necessities for him and went to use the card. The clerk scratched off the foil backing and said there was an error and zero balance on the card. He called his supervisor and she confirmed. They told us to call the number on the back of the card and they would give us the history of when it was activated and the balance if it has been used. I went online and did a chat with someone named John. He responded and said I need to speak to Amy for gift cards. She came on and told me to call the gift card number on the back of the card. I was not happy with this service since it was a waste of time to chat when all they did was give me the phone number I already had. She did finally explain that cards get deactivated if they are not used after a certain amount of time.**Next, I called the gift card number *-***-***-**** at *:** am and spoke to a woman for ** min, ** seconds. Most of the time was spent on hold because their system had a glitch she said. Finally, she came back on and said the only history on the card she could find was from *******. I told her that was the date we tried to use it in the Target store as payment for our purchase. She said that there must have been an error when the card was activated and it showed it was never activated. She said they had a policy and the only way she could help me was if I had the original receipt. I tried to communicate the situation again with her but her accent was difficult to understand. I asked to speak with her supervisor. I finally said, "Are you saying you cannot help me without the receipt?" She said that is what she needed. I told her I was calling Target to complain about this process.**Then I called *-***-***-**** at *:** am and spoke to a gentleman who made me run thought the whole scenario again. He checked the gift card number and said I would have to speak with a gift card representative. I told him I already did for ** minutes and she did not help me so I was calling to file a complaint. He then told me to email Target.com guest services, which is what I am doing now. **This has been a great deal of time and hassle to me and my son just trying to make a purchase in your store and get an issue resolved. I am not happy with the customer service I have received nor has my problem been resolved. I always have been told that gift cards never expire. However, we are unable to use this gift card: ****-***-***-***-***, access code ********. It also has seq* ****** and event * *-***-**-****-*. Please help me resolve this issue.**Thank you,*Tami Rupe
