Dear Snapchat, **We are Erin and Sabrina and we are members of a club at North Torrance High School (California) called Human Relations Ambassadors. Our mission is to provide educational opportunities for students at our school to make positive decisions, to contribute to making our campus safe, and to helping students develop healthy relationships within the school community. We are also a chapter of the national organization SADD (Students Against Destructive Decisions) so we design campaigns at our school targeted at promoting mental health and traffic safety. Specifically, we are well aware that many people, students specifically, use Snapchat while driving. Distracted driving causes *.* million car accidents, and * out of * car accident in the US are caused by distracted driving. When someone uses their phone while driving, they are *x more likely to cause an accident than someone who is drinking and driving. We hope you share our concern over this startling issue and will help us in our upcoming *don't snap & drive campaign. We are trying to put our foot down and promote a culture of zero tolerance for distracted driving, but there’s only so much one group of teens can do alone* we need support at the commercial level to promote safety. We think corporations should start setting good examples for teens to follow and making statements about their brand that encourage safety and health* after all, a broken car and a crashed car can be fixed, but the lives lost cannot. We wanted to create a Snapchat filter for our school to relay this message to our peers, but we noticed you beat us to it and had one up during the weekend of ****. However, after that weekend you took it down. We write to you today to ask if you can keep it as a permanent filter for our location so we can spread our message everyday* we do not have funds to keep a personalized filter up everyday, but we also want teens at our school and even beyond to be able to see it.
