The issue in GetHuman2600826's own words
I ordered a left front brake caliper for my **** Hyundai Sonata on Dec. **, ****. It arrived in a timely manner and was installed on my car. Several days later, while on my way to work, I went to apply the brakes and found my pedal going to the floor. I almost was in an accident, but diverted one due to manually downshifting and using my emergency brake to stop. I eventually made it to work and was able to inspect the brakes. Brake fluid was found to be leaking from between the caliper piston and seal. The next day I was able to remove the faulty caliper and also found that all of the brake fluid had drained from my master cylinder reservoir. I thought, Oh Well, since I would have to bleed the front left side of the brakes, it would be just a little more trouble having to bleed them all. I put my old caliper back on and requested a return authorization to send back the new caliper for replacement. I had to pay return shipping, which I did not care for, but paid anyway. A few days later after shipping out the the caliper, I receive another in the mail. It is installed and all of the brakes are bled. For some reason, I could not get any resistance in the brake pedal. It felt like it was full of air in the system. I did some research online and found that anytime the master cyliner goes dry, the automobile should be taken to a dealership with a scan tool that can actuate the ABS pump motor before all of the air can be bled out of braking system. It was going to be costly so I found a scan tool online that I purchased for $***.** that would perform an ABS service bleed and save me some money. I had also purchased a manual vacuum pump ($**.**) to bleed the brakes since I did not always have help. I bled them with this again and finally got resistance in my brake pedal. I bleed the brakes until they feel ok to me and decide on a test drive. As I am driving, I perform several stops and get to noticing that my brake pedal is almost going to to the floor. I immediately go home and inspect the left front wheel area. I can see brake fluid all around the inside of wheel so I remove the wheel. I found that brake fluid is leaking from the same area as the previous one, between the caliper piston and piston seal. Now, I would prefer to get a refund for this part. I have my daughter with me a lot and if I get another caliper, what if this one goes bad and we have an accident? The caliper is a Cardone Reman Caliper. If nothing else, I would exchange it from another manufacturer. Sorry for the long story, but Thank You for listening! My order is No. *********
