I am trying to start gas service at a new apartment where it seems that National Grid is the only service provider. I called last week, spoke to two human beings right away who both transferred me to the "right line" only to wait on hold for * hours until I hung up. I tried the next day, straight to hold for another hour and a half then I hung up. I am currently on hold for * hours and counting. I have not been offered the option to leave my number and receive a call when there is a representative available. I understand there is high demand this time of year, but this is not the first year they have experienced this rush. There has to be a better way to handle the "higher than normal call volume". Have more representatives staffed. Offer a call back option. Allow customers to start services online.
