On July *th I booked a room at the Motel * E. Columbia, MO. This is the second week in a row I needed to stay due to medical testing at the hospital. I was given a rate of $** * tax. (appx $**). (I was told this was a hospital rate). I phoned and reserved this room with a debt card. I later called to tell them to not use that card, as they usually charge the card around *p or so, and I had decided to use my credit card instead, (I did not arrive until after midnight I think it was). I specifically told them "DUE NOT CHARGE THAT CARD" I checked in, my son and I. When we got there, we had two friends. They were going to the casino and all three left with in **-** minutes of my checking in. When I checked in I discovered the reservation was for *, when I originally made it I was unsure if my son would be accompanying me. I was told at that time the rate would still be $** anyway. At the time of check in, I did say *. I was not told the charge at the time, I assumed it was the same as the previous week, $**. When I got to my room I checked my account and discovered I'd been charged $**.**. I than discovered my other card, the one I specifically told them not to use had been charged an additional $**.**. I immediately went back and was told I had extra people. No one was even there, but me, they had already left. I was refused to talk to anyone, and was told to talk to the GM the next morning, knowing full well he would not be in that day. While I was there, I overheard him talking to the GM telling him I checked in with *, not * people. Therefor he charged my other card. I was very upset about this. This is an unauthorized charge. I did not give permission to charge my card. He told me he had the right to do that because I signed in and that it stated they could charge for extra people. There were NO extra people. They went to the casino. My son did not even return until *a the next morning, only to pick me up. So technically I was the only one who slept in that room. There was only my bed used. I want to know how someone going to the room, helping take in my things constitutes additional charges. I am really upset about the underhandedness of this, I wasn't even informed of these charges. I had no idea that he would arbitrarily think I had extra guests, especially when they all left immediately, out past the front desk, so he was aware they all left, and that I was the only one there. He also was present when my son returned at *a to pick me up for my medical appointment. If this is how you take advantage of senior citizens, charging their cards fictitiously and assuming, there are more guest than there are, I assure you I will never ever stay at another Motel *. It was obvious that I was being helped into the motel room. I want my money returned. Your employees do not have the right to not discuss charges prior to charging anything. There is no other way to handle this other than the return of my money that you were NOT authorized to take.
