Today I tried to treat my nine-year-old son to a dinner at McDonald's both because he loves McDonald's and because due to the pandemic of the coronavirus I have lost my job and barely and making it due to not having any money from losing my job like I said previously. I ordered via the app and took a screenshot of the completed order with the order sequence number. I did this twice so I had to pending orders waiting to be picked up and waiting for me to say that I was at the store for them to start making the food. Upon arriving to the store, mind you we walked more than a mile and a half, we were unable to figure out how to start the order to be made. We spoke to the manager and even though I showed the manager the screenshots with the sequence number as well as the app to my credit card that showed the money was indeed taken out of my account and she still refused to do anything for me other than to give me a *-*** number to call McDonald's through. I called the *-*** number and spoke to an extremely sweet and nice McDonald's representative who tried to help as best she could without being there for me to show all the proof that I had. She said the only thing they can do was to refund my account but wasn't sure how long that would take. Mind you, again this was the last money that I had to my name and wanted to treat my nine-year-old son with again the last of my money that I had to my name at the time. Long story short we walked out of that McDonald's hungry and without any type of refund although again I should prove that the money went through from my account. I am extremely unhappy with the way this was handled or should I say lack thereof and the way it wasn't handled. This is totally unacceptable and because it ended up getting to be so late, my son ended up going to sleep without any dinner that night, which as a mother made me feel like I failed my own son. I am not writing this looking for any type of pity but to hopefully stop this from happening to another low-income family – or any family at that because no family deserves that regardless of their income. Although my order came out to only being around $* and something change I feel this is still completely unacceptable especially considering that was the last few dollars I had to my name until I'm able to receive my stimulus check which who knows when that might be. My son and I have been struggling since the loss of my job at the beginning of this Coronavirus and this is not acceptable especially when the world is going through a crazy pandemic like so. I am very disappointed and extremely saddened that my son had to go to bed without dinner tonight at the fault of McDonald's even upon producing multiple means of proof that I did in fact pay for dinner tonight by providing the screenshots of the order sequence number with the date and time included as well as my bank statement again with the date and time included as well. Again this is so unacceptable and I have never experienced something like this especially considering the fact that the amount was so little that they still couldn't help me out with providing my order with all of the proof laid out on the table for them to see. I feel as though I should share my story with social media so that everybody can see how McDonald's is treating their paying guests during this epidemic because tonight was just completely and utterly unacceptable just the fact that my son again how to go to sleep without any dinner tonight. No child should ever have to go to sleep hungry the way my son did. I write this email with tears streaming down my face because it made me feel as though I failed my own child because in his eyes it seemed like I failed him because I couldn't afford him which intern made him feel bad and blame himself because when we got home, he ran around the house scrambling every piece of change he could find to give to me because he knew that was the last of my money and no child should ever cold that type of guilt. I know to a huge corporation like McDonald's, that this seems like I'm overreacting but until you walk a mile in my shoes you will never understand the feeling of feeling your own family or child the way I felt tonight over a mere $* that again I had all the proof for
