For any tax issues you may have then you will need to call in. You can call customer support at the IRS using 800-829-1040. Once you call press 1 for English then wait for the recording to end. Press 2 then 1 then 3 then 2. The recording will then ask for your social security number you can just press 0# it will ask again then press 0# and finally press 2 once it asks you a question. You will be told your wait time and a representative will pick up to help you.

I have RMDs that I must take from an account that is part of a huge lawsuit (Aequitas Capital Management and the SEC). Technically, I suppose one could argue that there is no money there, and I cannot remove anything. However, the holding company (a bank) is reporting to the IRS what THEY think is the value of the account (even though I cannot access any of it). This amount is based on what might eventually be recovered (by a Receiver hired by the SEC). That money might come back in ****, but nobody knows for sure. Am I exempt from an RMD that I cannot take, and should I double-up my RMD when the money comes back next year?
