To transfer an I-PASS transponder, log into your I-PASS account online, remove the transponder from the old vehicle, and add the transponder to the new vehicle's registration details. Secure the transponder to the windshield of the new vehicle.

If your I-Pass transponder has expired, it would need to be replaced. To replace your expired transponder, you need to contact I-Pass Illinois directly. You can find the most up-to-date contact information right here on this page. They will guide you through the process of obtaining a new transponder. It's also important to update your I-Pass account and present the expired transponder's number. The staff will deactivate the old transponder and issue a new one. Some fees for the replacement may apply based on the circumstances, these would also be discussed during your contact with them.

To add a new transponder to your I-Pass Illinois account for a new vehicle, follow these steps: 1. Log into your I-Pass account online with your username and password. 2. Once you're logged in, select "Transponders" from the menu. 3. Click on "Add New Transponder" button. 4. You will need to enter the transponder serial number and nickname. 5. After that, add the new vehicle's details including license plate, make, model, and year of production. 6. Click "Add" or "Submit" to finalize the changes. Remember to place the transponder in the new vehicle to work properly at toll points.

If you've damaged your I-Pass sticker, you can request a new one. Please log into your I-Pass account online to make the replacement request. There might be a fee for the replacement. Once requested, it will be mailed to your registered address with installation instructions. Please ensure to place the new sticker according to the instructions to avoid any further issues. Replace the old damaged sticker only when you receive the new one to avoid gaps in the toll payment.

You don’t necessarily need to place the I-PASS transponder exactly above the rearview mirror. It can be placed anywhere in the center section of your windshield, behind the rearview mirror, to communicate with the toll plaza equipment. It can be placed closer to the mirror, lower or even to the side, as long as there's no metal blocking its signal. The key is to ensure its top side is facing up and front side is facing the windshield. The gray box near the mirror, often related to features like rain sensing wipers or light-sensing headlights, should not interfere with your I-PASS' functionality.
