To Whom It May Concern**My name is Hannah Harwood and on February *th **** at the H&R Block location **** Buckhead Crossing Ste *** Woodstock, GA ***** I filed my taxes with tax specialist Gretnor K Jordan. It came to me and Gretnors attention when we were filing that my company had paid taxes to the wrong state (Illinois) for **** and I was advised to get a corrected W-* from my company before we could file our taxes.*My company sent out the corrected W-*, which I then brought into H&R Block and my taxes were filed through H&R Block on February **th, ****. I was advised that there were no other steps I needed to take since my company sent out the corrected W-* and it was given to Gretnor.* *On July *th **** I received a letter from the Georgia Department of Revenue stating that my **** taxes had not been paid and that I was accruing penalties and interest on that amount until the balance was paid off. After spending over an hour of my personal time on the phone with Georgia Department of Revenue, I was advised to go back to my tax preparer to see what happened.* *On July **th **** I met with H&R Block employee Dale Huntington at the **** Buckhead Crossing branch as Gretnor was not working at that time. When Dale reviewed everything he advised us that Gretnor had never submitted the corrected W-* and that is why Georgia never received their **** taxes. In addition to the unpaid taxes, the amount was also incurring interest and penalties. Dale worked very hard and re-submitted all the corrected W-* documents, I was then advised that he would file a claim with H&R Block due to Gretnors negligence and my accrual of interest and penalties.* *Due to Gretnors failure to properly submit the corrected W-*s, I have had to spend over * hours on the phone with IL and GA DOR as well as the time taken to go get my taxes re-done. In addition to that, my balance is accruing interest and penalties and will continue to do so until I receive the returned **** tax check from IL to pay Georgia. Dale submitted a claim (T********) and he advised us that when we get the final bill from Georgia to submit that to H&R Block for a refund on the penalties and interest accrued. * *On July **th **** I received a check from H&R Block for $**.** and a letter stating that the check was to satisfy the claim. I then called H&R Block customer service, who in return set up a phone appointment for me to speak with ANOTHER tax consultant at the same branch by the name of Elaine (I do not know her last name) and explained to them that until we received the returned **** state IL taxes, our bill would keep incurring penalties and interest. Elaine then told me that H&R Block would only be covering that first months penalties and interest because once the W-* was amended they ‘did everything on their part and my best option would be to pay the $*,*** out of pocket and wait for the IL returned check since it can take a while to get it back’. I was never advised that this was H&Rs policy.*I am extremely disappointed and frustrated with H&R Block and the treatment I have received as a paying customer. I do not know why the ball was dropped and the proper amended return was not sent on February **th **** and now I am having to pay out of pocket for a mistake that I am not responsible for, not to mention the amount of time this is taking to correct.* *I am requesting my claim (T********) to be extended to cover the full penalties and interest accrued until we receive the returned **** taxes from IL in order to pay Georgia. If the taxes had been filed by Gretnor CORRECTLY the first time, I would not have accrued any penalties or interest, nor have had to spend so much time trying to correct a problem I did not create.* *I look forward to reaching a resolution on this problem and can provide documentation as needed.
