Help with my Garmin issue

I am using a garmin drivesmart ** LMT-S and after doing a map update with garmin express I now have a total black background on the map screen, no map. The rest of the screen works fine ie: tools etc. I did a reinstall of the map update, it says it ran successfully and still the same results. The update loaded the maps for all of North America, I have a sd card and plenty of space available. How do I get the map screen to show the map and not be totally black?

GetHuman-staso did not yet indicate what Garmin should do to make this right.

How GetHuman-staso fixed the problem
This might not make sense but this is what I did. After the map update that resulted in my drivesmart ** map disappearing, and left me with just a solid black background, I went through the reinstall process a few times with the same results each time. I have an older Garmin Nuvi and a Garmin Dash Cam and had Garmin Express installed on one of my older laptops so I decided to add the Garmin drivesmart ** to that copy of Garmin Express, went through the reinstall process and "voila" I have my maps again. I'm using Windows ** on both computers so it really doesn't make much sense. Bottom line Garmin Express was the villain.
