Introduction

Garmin makes a wide variety of GPS-enabled devices, ranging from fitness-tracking watches to navigation equipment to aviation equipment. If you have one of Garmin's many GPS-assisted products, whatever it is, you probably rely on it a fair bit. So if something goes wrong with it, you need to know how to get device support from the company, so you can get the problem taken care of as quickly as possible.

Locate the device's serial number.

It might be written or stamped on the device itself, or on the packaging, or in the paperwork that came with the device.

Go to the Garmin support center online.

How Do I Get Device Support from Garmin? (Step 2)

Enter the device's serial number in the text field under the "Help Starts Here" header.

You will be shown a list of help articles for your device.
Alternatively, click on one of the support options, such as "Navionics Support" or "Avionics Support" to view a list of articles regarding the type of device you have. In some circumstances, not being too specific about which device you have exactly can show you results that could help but which you would not otherwise see with a more precise search.

Search through likely-looking articles to find something that helps you troubleshoot your problem.

Call a Garmin customer support representative and ask for help with your device's problem.

Tell them about the troubleshooting steps you have already taken.

Follow the representative's instructions.

The representative will try to help you troubleshoot the device over the phone. In the event that this does not resolve the problem, they will set up a service request for you. This will likely involve having you send your device in to the company for analysis and repair or replacement. In the event that this happens, you will need to prepare the device for return. To do so, follow the subsequent steps. If a return is not request, then proceed no further.

Back up any personal data you have stored in the device.

Remove any memory cards, case covers, cables, removable batteries, covers, and other accessories from the device.

If you return the device with any accessories, you may not get those accessories back again.

Package up the device and ship it back to Garmin in accordance with the instructions you received from the customer service representative you spoke to.

Wait for word from the company.

Once they have a look at your device, they will either repair it and send it back, or send you a replacement device.

Conclusion

The Garmin customer service center is open from 8:00 am to 6:00 pm CT from Monday to Thursday and from 8:00 am to 5:00 pm CT on Fridays. It is not open on the weekend.

Why does GetHuman Write How-to Guides for Garmin Problems?

GetHuman has been working for over 10 years on sourcing information about big organizations like Comcast in order to help customers resolve customer service issues faster. We started with contact information and fastest ways to reach a human at big companies. Particularly ones with slow or complicated IVR or phone menu systems. Or companies that have self-serve help forums instead of a customer service department. From there, we realized that consumers still needed more detailed help solving the most common problems, so we expanded to this set of guides, which grows every day. And if you spot any issues with our What do I do if my Xfinity TV or internet is out? guide, please let us know by sending us feedback. We want to be as helpful as possible. If you appreciated this guide, please share it with your favorite people. Our free information and tools is powered by you, the customer. The more people that use it, the better it gets.
