Facebook covered (censored) a video that I posted on my page on May ******* regarding a Japanese journalist covering the Israeli occupation of the Palestinians territories. The video contains no explicit sexual or violent images, nor is it racist, sexist or homophobic in any way. In fact, it is far tamer than **% of the movie trailers routinely posted on Facebook that go uncensored every day. For several seconds in the video, it shows old black and white archival photos of a number of dead Palestinians. You can't see their faces, or the exact nature of their injuries and there is no gore whatsoever. Yet you chose to censor this video. I can only assume, therefore, that you chose to censor this video due to it's political content. Either you personally object to criticism of Israeli policies toward the Palestinians, or you are bowing to pressure from organizations determined to keep the oppression of Palestinians out of the public eye. Either way, I find your action to fly in the face of the idea of open public discourse which Facebook claims to promote. And this is the second time you have chosen to cover (censor) a video that I've posted regarding the Israeli occupation of Palestine. You also "covered" a video that I posted on March ******* of Israeli forces preventing a medic from treating a Palestinians protester. Again, no obvious injuries and no gore. So if you would be so kind as to uncover this video that would be great. If you are unable to find it in your heart to do so, then I'll have no choice but to make this matter the subject of my next post (including a copy of this letter I'm writing to you).
