The issue in GetHuman1769699's own words
I was trying to install new printer ink cartridges. ... I bought an Epson xp-*** from Office Depot in July of this year. It was defective and Office Depot swapped it for my current printer in August of this year It was the first time for me to try a printer other than an HP. I bought ink cartridges from both Office Depot and Epson. No matter how hard I try, I can't get the cartridges to work. I keep getting a message that the cartridge is not recognized. Three other people have tried to do this with the same result. When I spoke to Office Depot, they said the printer might be damaged but it was more than ** days since I'd purchased it so they wouldn't replace it. I tried to tell them I didn't need to replace the cartridges until now. I asked if someone could show me what I was doing wrong, Because of medications my wife and I have, it would be extremely difficult to take the printer to an Office Depot store but they said no one could come to my house. I am now the not-so-proud possessor of a useless printer. What can I do now? I never had problems seating ink cartridges on other printers. Do I just chalk this up to a learning experience, recycle the printer and buy another brand? What are your thoughts on options I may have?
My wife and I both have medical conditions that make it very difficult to go to Office Depot for help. They won't do anything because I purchased the printer over ** days ago, even though I have just reached the point where I need to replace the cartridges.
Either tell (or better yet, show) me what I'm doing wrong so I can successfully install the cartridges or buy the printer back. This would be the second defective printer I received from Office Depot if it truly is damaged.
I am a new customer and expected it to match what I had read about this model on the Consumer Reports web site.
Had * other people read the directions on the cartridge box and try to install it. All * wound up where I did - cartridge not recognized.
