The issue in GetHuman-bryanbon's own words
I had direct tv for yers and loved the service. I cancelled service in September **** upon moving to another state for a job. I updated my address with direct tv and proof of the address update was return equipment boxes sitting on my door step of my new house when I arrived (even though I had already returned the equipment). Because my account was on autopay, direct tv precharged me for the month I disconnected leaving me with a $***.** credit balance. I called multiple times asking for a refund and was told it would be processed and the direct tv rep confirmed my new address. Weeks later I called to check the status and was told the refund was sent as a gift card to the old address. I did not pay direct tv with a gift card and it is not acceptable that is how the money was supposedly refunded. I did not receive the gift card even though my mail is being forwarded. I have been told a new card had been issued but the whole process is unacceptable. It is a shame that direct tv would treat a many year customer who paid thousands of dollars in this manner, and then ask for my future business.

GetHuman-bryanbon did not yet indicate what DirecTV should do to make this right.
