I fell victim to a scam on CL on April 26th when I tried to purchase a car and sent $[redacted].00 via eBay gift cards to a fake email link. After realizing it was a scam, I contacted eBay who advised me to file a police report and contact the FBI. The scammers' contact information is: phone number [redacted] and email [redacted] I'm Tracy R., from Grand Prairie, TX, and you can reach me at [redacted] or [redacted] eBay informed me that they do not provide cash refunds for gift cards and that it will take 14 business days to hear back from them. I'm hoping for the scammers to be caught and for my money to be refunded soon so I can get to work. Thank you for any assistance.

I was browsing Craigslist for a rental property when I reached out to a person about their home for rent. They sent me a rental application asking for personal details. Although I received the form, I decided not to fill it out as the deposit mentioned was unusually high. The person has been persistently trying to get in touch, but upon conducting some research at the courthouse, I discovered discrepancies in the property ownership information provided. This raised red flags for me, and I am now considering taking legal action against them for potential fraud. The situation has made me cautious, and I want to ensure that others don't fall into a similar trap. If you have any advice or suggestions regarding this matter, please reach out to me via email. I appreciate your assistance and eagerly await your response.

My husband bought 2 Angels tickets from a seller on Craigslist. The tickets turned out to be invalid as they were printed electronically and canceled out by the stadium. The seller promised a refund but never showed up at the stadium. Attempts to reach him by text were unsuccessful, and his phone number was disconnected. We are seeking a refund of $[redacted] and any information to assist in contacting him. Thank you.

I need assistance! I am new to Craigslist and was excited to start posting items for sale. However, I have encountered scammers asking for my information and wanting to purchase items without seeing them. Additionally, despite my efforts to filter out these scammers, Craigslist keeps deleting my posts as soon as I submit them. I am unsure why this is happening and I am not receiving any alerts or notifications explaining why my posts are being removed. I need to understand who is removing my posts and why they are being taken down so I can successfully sell my items. Please help me figure this out!

I recently listed a vehicle for sale on Craigslist. After a call inquiring about the car's availability, the caller abruptly stopped speaking. Subsequently, I received texts requesting to switch to text communication. The individual then asked for a history report from an external site, despite the information being clear in the ad. When the person insisted on email correspondence and expressed eagerness to purchase, I became wary of a potential scam. Politely terminating the texts, I indicated my intention to report the suspicious activity. The phone number associated with these interactions is [redacted], originating from out of state. I am considering escalating this issue further.

While on vacation, I received three texts regarding inquiries about my Craigslist ad and was prompted to click a link. Due to not having my PC with me, I accessed the Craigslist homepage on my phone instead. However, I was not directed to any messages regarding my ad. The numbers included were: [redacted], [redacted], and [redacted]. Concerned about potential fraud, I refrained from further action until returning home. Unfortunately, I am now unable to access my account as it states my password is incorrect and changing it has been unsuccessful. Your assistance in resolving this issue is greatly appreciated.

I noticed an ad on Craigslist-Monterey (and likely other areas) for a [redacted] Cadillac Escalade priced at $18,[redacted]. After engaging with the "owner" through texts and emails and learning about the company that would handle the transaction, I discovered alarming information. The Better Business Bureau advises against dealing with this company, citing multiple names, false locations, incorrect phone numbers, and various scam complaints. When I confronted the "owner" with this information via email, I received no response. It is clear that this is a scam as no legitimate seller would offer a car valued at $45,[redacted] for only $18,[redacted]. Beware of this fraudulent scheme.

Hello, A friend informed me about a Craigslist post in the sublets and temporary housing section with post id: [redacted]. I am seeking the removal of this post promptly. I posted an ad to sell my washer. Initially, I had two legitimate buyers, but then a third buyer sent me a check for $[redacted], instructing me to cash it after removing the posting. Realizing it was a fraudulent check, I was shocked and upset by the illegal situation. The buyer incessantly messaged me, even late at night, pressuring me to cash the check and mentioning someone would visit to assist with it. When I sought help from the police, they directed me to Craigslist. Despite numerous attempts via phone, email, and text, Craigslist hasn't responded or helped. My intention was only to sell my washer, but instead, I got entangled in an illegal scheme with a non-English speaking individual. I regret dealing with Craigslist and vow to avoid them in the future after this distressing ordeal.

I have been using Craigslist to list rooms for sublet in my Hillsboro, Oregon home. Recently, I declined some potential renters who then threatened me. Following this, my ads are quickly flagged down after posting, which I suspect is being done by the disgruntled individual. This has resulted in a lack of responses to my legitimate ads and a decrease in inquiries for the rooms. I'm concerned about losing my home if I don't find renters soon. I have tried changing ad titles but it hasn't helped. I include pictures for transparency, though I am considering removing them if it will prevent flagging. Craigslist is essential for me to find tenants, and I'm reaching out for assistance to address this issue. Your prompt attention to this matter is greatly appreciated. Thank you for your support.

I am looking to have my RV repaired and sold promptly to move forward. I have contacted C/L numerous times regarding my advertisement being hacked and my personal information being compromised. The hacker has altered the ad details to an extreme extent. It appears that this dealership may be purposefully hindering my RV sale as a form of retaliation. I require evidence in the form of an IP address for legal proceedings. The dealership in question is Meridian RV Manufacturing Ltd. located in Port Coquitlam.

I have contacted you via email regarding an ad featuring my information that I did not post. This situation is unacceptable as I am bombarded with numerous texts and calls daily. The item in the ad is not for sale, and I did not create the post. It is not a humorous prank. I demand the immediate removal of the post containing my information from the website. As a student with a job, I cannot tolerate these unwanted calls and messages at all hours. The post ID is [redacted]. If it is not taken down by Monday the 28th, I will have to involve law enforcement. I hope this serious action will prompt a resolution. It is frustrating to go to such lengths to address this issue. I have lost faith in using craigslist after this experience.

I am uncertain, but I suspect that this could be a fraud attempt. We listed gauges for sale at $[redacted], and received a quick response asking if they were still available. When I confirmed, I was asked for personal information to send a cashier's check within 48 hours, with an additional $50 to take the listing off Craigslist. Aware of fraudulent cashier's checks, I asked the buyer to contact my husband, who also found it suspicious. Despite this, the buyer insisted on obtaining my mailing address for the check and mentioned sending a shipping agent later. With only the name John Mark and the email address [redacted] as contact info, I am wary of this transaction. I am hesitant to share additional details or agree to the buyer's terms, as I sense something fishy about the situation.

It seems that a Craigslist scammer named Jordan Prescott attempted to defraud me by sending a fake cashier's check for a health equipment purchase and then asking me to send money back for supposed moving expenses. I have realized this was a scam after researching the situation. It is unfortunate that I fell for this scheme, but I have all our interactions documented if needed for any actions against this fraudulent individual. His contact information is as follows: name - Jordan Prescott, phone number - [redacted].

I listed a table for sale and encountered a scammer using the name Gloria Lebron. All our communication via email is saved. In short, she claimed a certified check would be sent from a BC art gallery. I was to keep the table's payment and give the remainder to a courier she would arrange for pickup. After verifying with the art gallery, they had no knowledge of Gloria or the transaction. I've flagged her and now I'm reporting this to Craigslist.

Fraudulent Ad on Craigslist regarding Specialized Rockhopper bike for sale for $25 needing TLC in Petaluma. Text or email. On June 4, [redacted], I messaged the phone number to arrange to see the bike at 6 p.m. but received a text last minute saying the listing was being removed. When I called, I was informed the bike was not for sale. Despite this, I went to the address given and got no response. I left a note expressing my frustration at the situation. It is disappointing to be misled about a sale, especially after making the effort to get there. Hoping the seller is barred from further Craigslist sales or honors the original deal.

I have a house for rent in Santa Fe, NM listed with Valdez & Associates. The property manager posted the ad for $2,[redacted] a month, but it got altered on Craigslist to offer it at $1,[redacted] a month under a different name, Chris Okon (instead of Christa Okon). The fake ad provides a wrong phone number with a [redacted] area code, claiming I'm in California when I'm not. People have been visiting the property, misled by the scam ad. I reported it as spam but it's still active on other Craigslist pages. I need help to get it removed and figure out who's behind this fraudulent listing.

Hello, I received this email today regarding the Car Top Carrier. My name is Celena David, and I am interested in purchasing it. I am willing to increase my offer by $50. I will be sending a Cashier's Check for payment, which my husband will mail to you. Please provide me with your Name, Address, and Phone Number for sending the check. Once you receive the check, deposit it in your bank account, and once it clears, my mover will collect the item from you. I am unable to come in person due to a busy schedule but trust that the item's condition matches your description. Please confirm the final price. Kindly remove the listing from Craigslist once you confirm the sale. Thank you, CD I have concerns regarding this message; it seems suspicious to me. If anyone from Craigslist customer support could reach out to me, I would appreciate it. Thank you.

I came across a troubling advertisement for Ragdoll kittens in Phoenix. The seller claims a care plan through the Humane Society is included, which is false. Sadly, my kitten, weaned at one week old, is now fighting for her life due to being taken too soon from her mother. The vet estimates her age at one week. This seller is listing multiple ads with similar wording but different contact numbers and is asking between $[redacted]-[redacted]. My vet bill has already reached $[redacted]. Let's stop this seller from harming more kittens. Thank you.
