Let management at Citi know their security process is disorganized ... Recently received my AAdvantage American Airlines Citi Mastercard Executive World Elite. I activated the card by phone. I was told that if I spend $*,*** in first * months, I get a **,*** bonus AA miles. I wanted to use the Citi card to pay a $*,*** Four Seasons annnual Time share dues so I called Citi Card and spoke to the Secuity division. I was told that because my card had no history with Citi, Security had to block and deactivate my card until I verified my identity - this process involved Citi Security sending mail to me through US Post and would take days. I asked to speak to a supervisor- this request was refused.*Unsatisfied, later I called Citi Fraud division who did successfully unblock my card and will allow the $*,*** charge to go through.*Why activate my Citi Card and then penalize me when I use it. I have Chase VISA with twice the limit which doesn’t treat me this way.*I wish to lodge a formal complaint. Why was I not permitted to speak to a supervisor?
Issue required many phone calls
Issue remains unresolved- I am waiting for a letter from Citi acknowledging their ponderous confusing process. Why issue a credit card only to block it just because I made a phone call
