My name is Catherine Booher Dotson. My husband, Richard Dotson, was an employee of HID Global. On August **st he left HID and we went on Cobra coverage with them. On that same day, HID changed insurance carriers from the previous provider to Anthem BCBS. We are now trying to establish Cobra coverage with Anthem BCBS, who we have never had a policy with so we have no policy number, member number, etc. The *rd party Cobra administrator says our payment and information has been submitted. They say we have to contact Anthem BCBS to get a policy number, etc if we need it before we receive it in the mail at some point. We are under time pressure to get some appointments set up before the end of the calendar year. Can someone please help me find out if our application has been processed ? I think it may be lost somewhere because it is not being managed by the benefits manager at HID. The Benefits Manager, Maria Ortega, at HID Global says it is not her issue because she only works with current employees and Cobra is through the *rd party administrator. The *rd party administrator says all they do is manage the billing, they do not have a contact within BCBS to find out if coverage has been instated. I realize this is a unique case since we have not had a policy with Anthem, the insurance company now managing our Cobra coverage. Can you please let me know how to find out if our policy is in effect and if there is a policy number and member number yet? My phone is (***) ***-**** or email is below.
