How Do I Transfer My Sprint Account to Another Carrier?

Sprint wireless customers can choose several different options when it comes to transferring their wireless service. Customers can visit a wireless retailer in person or by phone. In addition, Sprint customers also have the option of going online and completing the wireless transfer. Sprint customers will need to pay attention to device compatibility, as well as the ability to port their current number, if they choose. Most wireless carriers allow customers to transfer their phone numbers but some may not. You may also be required to purchase another device if your current one is incompatible. The whole transfer process should be completed before you cancel your current wireless service, however. After the transfer is complete, you can cancel your existing account. It should be noted that transferring to another wireless carrier often overrides the need to cancel your wireless service. It often happens automatically once the transfer is made.

There are a ton of wireless carriers that offer a wide variety of different benefits. This may make it difficult to stick with the same carrier you've been with for ages. As a Sprint customer, you may want to change carriers but not know exactly how to do this.

Collect Your Information

Initially, you'll need to gather all the information from your current Sprint wireless provider. You'll need your address, account number and pin, and the ESN or MEID number found inside your phone behind the battery. Once you collect all of this information, you'll need to have access to it when you speak with your new wireless carrier. This information will be needed to make the transfer.

Choose Your Carrier

The first step in this process is to choose your carrier. Once you make this choice you should contact them and start the transfer process. You can visit a wireless retail location to make the switch or you can call wireless provider. You can also go online and attempt to change wireless service providers. There are many different ways to do this. You will need to let the new wireless carrier know that you want to port your phone number as soon as possible. Most of the time this is possible, however, there3 are situations when its not. You will also need to ask about your devices compatibility with the new wireless carriers. You may find that your device isn't compatible which means you'll have to buy another phone. You may have the option to trade your phone in for credit or a discount on another phone. Every carrier will be different. There may be other incentives as well.

Do Not Cancel Your Current Wireless Service

Your first step is to contact your new wireless provided and complete the transfer process. After you complete the transfer process you can cancel your existing service. However, your Sprint service may automatically cancel.

Beware of Balances and Other Fees

You may be responsible for transfer balances in addition to a host of other fees. Do your homework and find out what you will have to pay. Some wireless carriers offer to pay off balances as an incentive to transfer service. Regardless of the case, do your homework and find out what's needed and what will be required of you monetarily, as a result of the transfer.
