Can I receive Social Security benefits while still working?

Asked a year ago
Yes, it is possible to receive Social Security benefits while still working. However, the amount of benefits you receive may be reduced based on your income. If you have reached full retirement age, there are no limits on the amount you can earn and still receive full Social Security benefits. However, if you start receiving benefits before reaching full retirement age, there is an earnings limit in place. In 2022, the annual earnings limit is $18,960. If you earn more than this limit, $1 will be deducted from your benefits for every $2 you earn above the limit. However, it's important to note that these deductions aren't truly lost, as your benefits will increase when you reach full retirement age to account for the withheld amounts.
