If you're no longer able to keep your Six Flags membership, you can still cancel it and get a refund. Here are a few things to keep in mind, however.

Time Limits

If you have been a Six Flags member for 12 months or less, you may not be able to cancel your account right away. Check the paperwork you signed when setting up your original account. In some cases, you may be subject to an early termination fee by canceling your membership before the first 12 months are up.

However, after your 12 months are up, your membership shifts to month-to-month, and you can cancel freely at any time. There are still a few things to be aware of, however.

Lead Time

You must cancel using the Six Flags website, and be aware that there is also some lead time.

You can schedule your membership to end at any time, but must pick a date that is at least two weeks before your final payment. So, that means that you must either pick a date to end your membership that is 45 days before the date you want your membership to expire; or be okay with remaining a member for up to 45 days after you cancel.

Be advised, however, that using this method will not grant you a refund. It only sets up a calendar date after which your membership will be canceled. You may have to take a few extra steps to obtain a refund.

Customer Service

The first thing you will want to do if you wish to cancel your Six Flags membership and receive a refund is contact Six Flags Customer Service. This will connect you with a customer service representative, who will be able to help you cancel your membership.

You may be entitled to some type of refund, depending on your reasons for canceling. Be advised that in many cases, the customer service representative will, instead of offering a refund, propose suspending your account. You will not be able to use your account while it is suspended, but you will not have to pay, either.

And you will not lose any time on your account, either. Instead, if for example your account is suspended for three months, those three months will be credited to you once you reactivate your account.

Piecemeal

You can cancel some parts of your account and not others. For instance, you can cancel your dining membership, or your Flash Pass membership, and leave the other parts of your membership intact.

Respond Promptly

Sometimes you will need to go several rounds with customer service before achieving your desired outcome. Make sure to check the email account you have on file with Six Flags Customer Service regularly, and respond quickly if you receive a message from them. In many cases, they may need a little more information in order to process your account quickly. Don't hold up your refund!
