Funded by the federal Pandemic Unemployment Assistance (PUA) program, The North Carolina Department of Commerce Division of Employment (DCDES) is providing an additional $600 of unemployment insurance benefits to eligible individuals. Claimants can anticipate their first payments by April 17, 2020. This program will also cover self-employed workers and independent contractors. However, the DCDES isn't accepting claims from self-employed workers until April 15, 2020.
Additionally, the program will extend unemployment insurance benefits for an additional 13 weeks. Although, North Carolina DCDES is still implementing the program, ensuring that it follows the guidance of the U.S. Department of Labor. Check to North Carolina DCDES website regularly for updates.
To file a UI claim, you'll need to provide your personal information, including your work history for the previous two years and your reason for unemployment. Due to the current public health emergency, some requirements have been waived. For example, you can answer 'yes' to 'Did you look for work?' on your weekly certifications.
The North Carolina DCDES encourages residents to file their claims online to reduce the amount of phone time. However, individuals can call the North Carolina Department of Commerce Division of Employment Customer Service.
Before you file your UI claim, check out the video tutorials for a step-by-step guide on how to file a claim online. If you experience any issues when trying to log in to an existing account, see the Online Account Help page.
Start here to file your claim. After you've submitted your claim, your employer has 10 days to respond, as given by law, and you can expect to receive payments two weeks after the date you filed your claim. If any benefits are owed for weeks previously claimed, eligible individuals will receive back pay.
GetHuman has been working for over 10 years on sourcing information about big organizations like Comcast in order to help customers resolve customer service issues faster. We started with contact information and fastest ways to reach a human at big companies. Particularly ones with slow or complicated IVR or phone menu systems. Or companies that have self-serve help forums instead of a customer service department. From there, we realized that consumers still needed more detailed help solving the most common problems, so we expanded to this set of guides, which grows every day. And if you spot any issues with our What do I do if my Xfinity TV or internet is out? guide, please let us know by sending us feedback. We want to be as helpful as possible. If you appreciated this guide, please share it with your favorite people. Our free information and tools is powered by you, the customer. The more people that use it, the better it gets.
