How do I request a tax extension?

Asked a year ago
To request a tax extension in New Mexico, you can submit a written request for an extension by mail, fax, or through the Taxpayer Access Point (TAP) online system. The request should include your name, Social Security number or FEIN, tax type, and the tax year for which the extension is being requested. It's important to note that an extension to file does not grant an extension to pay any taxes owed, so any anticipated taxes should still be paid by the original due date to avoid penalties and interest.
