What is the minimum wage in New Jersey?

Asked a year ago
The minimum wage in New Jersey is $12 per hour for most employees, effective January 1, 2022. However, for seasonal employees and those working at businesses with fewer than six employees, the minimum wage is $11.10 per hour. Tipped employees like waitstaff and bartenders have a minimum cash wage of $4.13 per hour, with the remaining amount made up in tips. Additionally, agricultural employees have a minimum wage of $12.85 per hour, with a different rate for hand-harvested crops. The minimum wage applies to most workers in the state, although certain exemptions and exceptions exist. It is important to note that municipalities within New Jersey cannot establish their own minimum wage, so the state's minimum wage is applicable statewide.
