In a nutshell: Michigan's unemployment insurance provides temporary income to unemployed workers. To start receiving benefits, you must file a claim and select a payment method. You must also complete all the required documents, including your Social Security Number, employer information, and employment history. After submission, you should get a Monetary Determination Letter, which tells you whether you have earned enough to be eligible to receive payments, in 5-7 business days. You can also check the status of your claim via your MiWAM account. Continue reading for the step-by-step instructions on checking your claim status.

If you already got your Monetary Determination Letter, note that UIA may still need to review your claim. You still need to sign in and check the status of your claim.
You can see the status of your claim under My Claims. Check the Account Alerts for any messages or notices from the Michigan Unemployment Insurance Agency. If you have questions about your claim, click the Chat With an Agent link on the right side of the page. If you wish to view previous claims, click View All Claims.
When your claim is denied, it means you did not meet the eligibility requirements. Check the Determination Letter sent by the Unemployment Insurance Agency for the wage requirements.
Do you want to see the status of your benefit payment? Proceed to the next step.
If you're eligible for unemployment benefits and want to see the status of your benefit payment, tap on the Certification tab, just beside My Account.
Note: You start receiving payment benefits after registering and searching for work, and updating your information every two weeks. Create a profile at Pure Michigan Talent Connect and meet with a Michigan Works staff at least a day before certifying for the first time. You must also actively search for work to keep receiving your payments.
When the status of your benefit payment shows Payment Issued, it means your payment has been sent to your chosen payment method. It should be in your account in 7-10 business days. If it's Pending Payment, the funds will be deposited into your account on the next business day.
If there's an issue with the claim status, you can also schedule an appointment with a customer service representative to help you resolve the issue. To schedule a phone and in-person appointment, proceed to the next step.
Call only during normal business hours. You can schedule a phone or in-person appointment by calling customer service. For claimants who are hearing impaired, call the TTY service at 1-866-366-0004.
A virtual and closed-captioning appointment is also available. Just click Schedule an Appointment and follow the instructions.
To ensure your claim is approved, provide the exact reason for your unemployment and report your wages accurately. GetHuman has been working for over 10 years on sourcing information about big organizations like Comcast in order to help customers resolve customer service issues faster. We started with contact information and fastest ways to reach a human at big companies. Particularly ones with slow or complicated IVR or phone menu systems. Or companies that have self-serve help forums instead of a customer service department. From there, we realized that consumers still needed more detailed help solving the most common problems, so we expanded to this set of guides, which grows every day. And if you spot any issues with our What do I do if my Xfinity TV or internet is out? guide, please let us know by sending us feedback. We want to be as helpful as possible. If you appreciated this guide, please share it with your favorite people. Our free information and tools is powered by you, the customer. The more people that use it, the better it gets.
After helping consumers for 10 years, we realized that you need an impartial, live person you can talk to about comparing the various TV, cable, Internet and phone plans in your area- somebody who can compare the best deals across telecom providers.
