What are the requirements for obtaining a learner's permit?

Asked 6 months ago
To obtain a learner's permit in Maryland, you must be at least 15 years and 9 months old. You should pass a vision screening and a knowledge test with a score of at least 85%. Prior to taking the test, you are required to complete a Maryland-approved driver education course consisting of 30 hours of classroom instruction and 6 hours of behind-the-wheel training. You may also choose to complete a 36-hour classroom-based course. If you are 25 years old or older, you can bypass the driver education course requirement. Additionally, you need to provide proof of identity, age, residency, and social security number. A completed parental consent form is necessary if you are a minor. Finally, pay the applicable fee and submit the required documentation to your local MVA office.
