Is It Possible to Merge Two Home Depot Accounts?

Unfortunately, Home Depot does not allow accounts to be merged; however, there is a workaround that customers can take to consolidate purchases under one account number. By deciding which account will be used, the account holder can add users to that profile for purchases, then pay off and close the unused account. Users can be added as purchasers or admins depending on the level of authority the account holder wishes to give.

Home Depot is a leader in home improvement items, appliances, and building materials, and many customers have a Home Depot account or multiple accounts and want to know if it is possible to merge these into one account. You can learn more about Home Depot accounts by contacting customer support here, and below is information on merging accounts.

Can You Merge Home Depot Accounts?

Say you and your significant other have separate Home Depot accounts, but you want to merge these into one. Unfortunately, Home Depot does not allow individuals to merge accounts. Still, there is a way to solve this dilemma: Anyone can add authorized users to an existing account and close out the other, unused account or accounts. The steps to add authorized users are below:

  1. Open Home Depot's website on your computer and log into your account.
  2. Go to your account settings.
  3. Click "Add/Manage Users."
  4. When the page opens, click "Add Users."
  5. Designate if the person will be an admin or a purchaser on the account. Admins can make changes to the account, as where purchasers only have purchasing power. Therefore, this step is vital if you don't want someone to have full authority on the account.
  6. Add the person's information on the form that opens and click "Add User."
  7. Verification of the person being added will appear on the screen, and an email will be generated to the user.
  8. Notify the user to check their email and accept the add, so they can start using the account.
  9. Check the account once the person has accepted the add to make sure they are listed as "Active" on the account.
  10. Admins can add or delete authorized users at any time. This consolidates all purchases under one account for families that may have had multiple accounts. Any existing accounts that have balances can be paid and closed, with the family or business using one account with all users listed on it.

While merging Home Depot accounts is not allowed, consolidating users under one account is a quick and easy process through the primary purchaser's account by adding users as either purchasers or admins. For more information or assistance with adding users, call Home Depot customer support here.
