You've received a Home Depot gift card, and you're ready to make that purchase you've had your eye on, or maybe you're finally ready to start that home improvement project you've been saving for. How do you use your gift card for your purchase? You can find out more about Home Depot payment methods by contacting customer support here, and below are ways to use your card to get the items you want.

Using Your Home Depot Gift Card

You can use your Home Depot gift card online or in-store to get the items you need for your project or house.

Online Purchase

To use your Home Deport card online, do these steps:

  1. Open Home Depot's website on your computer.
  2. Log into your Home Depot account.
  3. Add items to your online shopping cart.
  4. Choose if you want delivery or ship to store.
  5. Go to checkout.
  6. Add delivery address or check if you want to go in-store or have curbside pickup.
  7. Select delivery options.
  8. At payment method, enter the gift card's 16-digit card number and PIN after clicking "Apply a Gift Card."
  9. Confirm you are not a robot.
  10. Review the order, and if everything is correct, click "Place Order" to complete the purchase.

If the gift card does not cover the entire purchase amount, you will be prompted to enter payment details, such as a credit or debit card, to make up the difference.

In-Store Purchases

Home Depot gift cards can also be used in-store to complete a purchase. Once you've picked out all the items you want, take them to the nearest register. Swipe your gift card or hand it to the cashier to enter to use for your purchase.

Home Depot gift cards do not expire, but there are some limitations on their use. Cards cannot be exchanged for cash, cannot be used for tool rentals and cannot be applied to loan or credit card balances.

Using your Home Depot gift card can help you get a jump start on that project you've been putting off. For more information or assistance, contact Home Depot customer service here.

Why does GetHuman Write How-to Guides for Home Depot Problems?

GetHuman has been working for over 10 years on sourcing information about big organizations like Home Depot in order to help customers resolve customer service issues faster. We started with contact information and fastest ways to reach a human at big companies. Particularly ones with slow or complicated IVR or phone menu systems. Or companies that have self-serve help forums instead of a customer service department. From there, we realized that consumers still needed more detailed help solving the most common problems, so we expanded to this set of guides, which grows every day. And if you spot any issues with our How Do I Use My Home Depot Gift Card for My Purchase? guide, please let us know by sending us feedback. We want to be as helpful as possible. If you appreciated this guide, please share it with your favorite people. Our free information and tools is powered by you, the customer. The more people that use it, the better it gets.
