Hertz is an American car rental company that has over 10,000 locations operating around the world. Customers are able to rent cars, vans, and trucks anywhere in the world. Hertz car rental locations are often found at major airports. The company ranks as the second-largest US car rental company by vehicle inventory, locations, and sales.

If you are having serious issues with your Hertz rental, you should notify the company immediately for assistance. Common issues include lost keys or keys locked inside a car, dead battery, stolen car, out of gas, car accidents, and a flat tire. Additionally, problems can come up after your rental is over, such as leaving an item in the car or losing your receipt. There are several ways you can contact Hertz for assistance, keep reading for all of your options.

Check the Hertz Help Desk

Before you spend time contacting the Hertz customer support team, you can try searching the Hertz Help Desk. If your problem is common and has been experienced by others, someone may have a solution for you online.

Report a Problem with Your Rental Via Phone

If your problem requires immediate assistance, you likely should call into the Hertz customer service line. You will need to have your reservation number handy, will need to provide contact information to prove your identity, and your location if you require someone to come help you.

Your emergency roadside assistance options will differ based on the type of car rental package you reserved. The basic package covers the 24/7 hotline but receiving support will cost an additional fee.

The premium package covers almost all car-related issues such as lost keys, keys locked inside the car, spare tire issues, dead battery, out of gas service, and roadside assistance. The premium package has roadside assistance within 90 minutes guarantee, and if help takes longer than 90 minutes to arrive, your premium fee for that day is refunded.

When you speak with the Hertz customer service representative, make sure to ask for a clear outline of all costs and fees that might apply.

Report a Problem with Your Rental Via Live Chat

If you prefer not to speak over the phone, or are having issues that do not require immediate assistance (such as a lost item or a lost receipt), you can reach out to Hertz customer service via their live chat function. You will need to provide your reservation number and will need to provide contact information to prove your identity.

Why does GetHuman Write How-to Guides for Hertz Problems?

GetHuman has been working for over 10 years on sourcing information about big organizations like Hertz in order to help customers resolve customer service issues faster. Or companies that have self-serve help forums instead of a customer service department. From there, we realized that consumers still needed more detailed help solving the most common problems, so we expanded to this set of guides, which grows every day. And if you spot any issues with our What Do I Do If I Have a Problem with My Hertz Rental? guide, please let us know by sending us feedback. We want to be as helpful as possible.
