In a nutshell: An Ancestry membership helps you learn more about your ancestors and even see family trees created by your relatives. A U.S Discovery membership allows you to access all records in the United States, while a World Explorer membership includes international records. If you opt for All Access, you can view records from other sources and create four additional accounts. Having a free plan or a registered user account also has its perks. If you want to cancel a free trial or a paid membership, read this article for the step-by-step guide.

After canceling an Ancestry membership, users still get to keep their accounts with Ancestry but as a registered guest. You can still access your DNA results or trees, journeys and matches, even after canceling the membership.
Users also have the option to permanently delete their account with Ancestry. Make sure to download all data available before starting the permanent deletion process.
Are you planning to cancel your membership with Ancestry? Don't worry, you can still sign in to your account and build or view your family tree. Even without a membership, users can also still receive and reply to messages from other Ancestry users. If you took a DNA test with your paid membership account, the results will still be available even after account cancellation. You can still continue to get Ancestry Hints and even search the free database.
Note that users can also pause, upgrade or downgrade their membership with Ancestry. You can also turn off automatic renewal to avoid future charges.
If you don't see a cancel trial or cancel membership in the account settings, you likely have a free account. You don't need to cancel if you have a free account. A gift membership also doesn't require any cancellation on your end. If you have a family plan, only the person who bought the membership can cancel it. Users who have been charged but don't have access to their Ancestry accounts may have more than one account. It's best to contact Customer Support so they can help you locate the account and avoid future charges.
GetHuman has been working for over 10 years on sourcing information about big organizations like Comcast in order to help customers resolve customer service issues faster. We started with contact information and fastest ways to reach a human at big companies. Particularly ones with slow or complicated IVR or phone menu systems. Or companies that have self-serve help forums instead of a customer service department. From there, we realized that consumers still needed more detailed help solving the most common problems, so we expanded to this set of guides, which grows every day. And if you spot any issues with our What do I do if my Xfinity TV or internet is out? guide, please let us know by sending us feedback. We want to be as helpful as possible. If you appreciated this guide, please share it with your favorite people. Our free information and tools is powered by you, the customer. The more people that use it, the better it gets.
