What is not covered under an American Home Shield warranty?

Asked a year ago
An American Home Shield warranty does not cover certain items or situations. These include pre-existing conditions or known defects, cosmetic damage, improper installation or maintenance, and repairs for non-essential appliances or systems. Typically, damages resulting from natural disasters or acts of God, such as earthquakes and floods, are not covered either. Additionally, items covered by a manufacturer's warranty or homeowner's insurance policy may not be eligible. The warranty does not extend to appliances and systems that have exceeded their normal lifespan or were not installed according to code. Also, neglect, misuse, or abuse of covered items will not be reimbursed. To get detailed information on what is excluded, customers should review the specific terms and conditions of their warranty contract.
