What Type of Bag Can I Bring for My Infant on My Aer Lingus Flight?

If you are flying Aer Lingus with an infant, knowing what you can and cannot bring on the flight can take the stress out of your trip. You can bring a fully collapsible stroller or buggy at no charge to you to be checked at the gate and a car seat or booster or cot for your child to travel in. Carry-on luggage for infants must be included with the parent or guardian's bag and can consist of specialty items such as baby food or medications.

Flying with an infant can be stressful. You want to make sure you have packed everything you need, whether the flight is a short hop from one city to another or a more extended flight from one country to another. In addition, you want to check with the airline to ensure you are following all guidelines while still providing for your infant. What type of bag can you bring for your infant when flying Aer Lingus? You can contact Aer Lingus passenger assistance here, and below are some tips for traveling Aer Lingus with an infant.

Baggage Allowances

There are different allowances depending on whether the flight is from one European country to another European country or a Transatlantic flight.

European Flights

For flights within Europe, the following items are acceptable for flying with an infant:

  1. You are allowed to bring one buggy or stroller that can fully collapse free of charge. (Note: the buggy or stroller is checked at the gate, and it can be handed down at the gate if needed).
  2. You can also bring one of the following: car seat, booster seat, or travel cot.
  3. If the child is under two years old, all items in the carry-on luggage must be included in the adult's baggage allowance with the child.
  4. The baggage allowance for adults is applied to children ages two through twelve.
  5. All carry-on bags must meet the following specifications:
    • Maximum weight can be no more than 10 kg or 22 pounds.
    • Maximum dimensions cannot exceed 55 cm (21.5 inch) height, 40 cm (15.5 inch) width, and 24 cm (9.5 inch) depth.
    • You can bring special medications or dietary items such as baby food in your carry-on bag.

Transatlantic Flights

If your Aer Lingus flight is a Transatlantic one, the following bag restrictions are the same for European flights with one exception. If you purchase a separate seat for your infant, the infant carry-on bag will have to meet the exact requirements as the standard carry-on allowance. You will still be able to bring baby food or special dietary foods or medications for your infant.

When traveling with an infant, you may be required to prove the baby food/formula is authentic when going through airport security.

Traveling Aer Lingus with an infant does not have to be a stressful experience. By following airline guidelines, you can pack your carry-on bag with items to help you and your infant have an enjoyable experience. For more information, contact Aer Lingus passenger support here.
