I have been paying Thumbtack for their "direct leads," which are said to match my preferences perfectly. However, I have received costly leads that do not align with my availability, leading me to decline them. I was not given the option to request a refund for these unsuitable leads, and despite trying to contact them through their various phone numbers, I could not reach a representative for assistance.

I noticed an unauthorized charge of $44.65 from Thumbtack on my account today. This charge was for a direct lead that I did not authorize. I received limited information in an email from Thumbtack, clicked the link to view the lead, and now I've been charged without ever responding or agreeing to anything. This has led to an overdrawn account situation, which is very frustrating. Trying to reach Thumbtack for assistance has been a challenge as there is no way to talk to a real person. I dialed two numbers and was supposed to receive a text message, but nothing came through. I demand an immediate refund to my bank account, not to a Thumbtack account. The lack of customer service and communication is unacceptable.

Last Friday, as a Thumbtack Pro, I was preparing an estimate invoice for a lady who wanted her house painted. In the process, I got a direct match that required auto-payment from my Thumbtack account. Unfortunately, I didn't have the necessary funds in my account, which resulted in a negative balance. This hindered me from sending the estimate to the customer. Despite setting up an appointment and providing an estimate to another client, he later informed me that he couldn't proceed due to a lack of funds. I've tried contacting Thumbtack to request a refund for the lead, considering the difficult circumstances, but I have faced challenges in getting the issue resolved. The back-and-forth communication and lack of support have been frustrating. I've contemplated canceling my subscription with Thumbtack and taking further action. It's disheartening that I landed the job but couldn't proceed due to the customer's financial constraints.

After considering hiring a drywall finisher through your company, I came across your Terms of Use, which gave me pause. Maintaining the right to resolve any disputes in a court setting is crucial to me. Although we have never pursued legal action, preserving that option is non-negotiable. The terms requested seem one-sided and leave us vulnerable if issues arise. Our previous experience with your service was positive, but facing this contractual issue was unexpected. Expressing thoughts clearly in writing is important to me, and agreeing by simply checking boxes feels insufficient. I regret the time wasted for both parties. I recently hired a Handyman named Daniel DeMarco through Thumbtack, but my experience was disappointing. DeMarco arrived late and used the wrong tinting film for my windows, resulting in poor quality work. Only one window was completed, and the film started coming off after just two days. DeMarco asked for a $[redacted] deposit and $40 to buy more film, but he never provided a price for removing the old film. When I called about the tint, he claimed it wasn't available anywhere. I am now requesting a refund of $40 for the product and $[redacted] for labor, as DeMarco has not been in touch despite accepting my payment. I am currently on the ninth day of waiting for a $[redacted] refund from one of your professionals. The refund was requested on the first actual working day after the services were requested. I had to remind them of the deadline of tomorrow, 11/24/21, for the funds to be received back into my bank account. The developer appears somewhat unwilling to refund as agreed, despite both verbal and emailed agreements being in place. Concern Regarding Billing Issue I recently contacted customer service and was informed of a bill that I had already paid twice, totaling [redacted]. However, it seems that the last payment of [redacted] may not have been credited, as my Thumbtack balance is showing as [redacted]. Despite initially being deactivated by Thumbtack, I managed to access my account and confirmed that I do not have any outstanding dues. I have settled the [redacted] for the jobs completed, which should reflect correctly as a balance of [redacted]. I received a one-star review from Kelli L that disclosed my private medical details. My concern is your system permits reviews without proper research or evidence. As a dog trainer, my service includes training both dogs and their families. Upon returning the dog, no family member was available for training. I extended my services, but the husband, who wasn't previously involved, became abusive and uncooperative. I offered a refund in three installments within the legal timeframe, but he declined. The review consists mostly of false information and exaggerations. The inclusion of private medical data, undisclosed to my ill father, violates the law. I demand the removal of the review. Failing to do so will result in legal action and loss of business. I have initiated the refund process with the first payment made. Efforts to reach a live agent have been unsuccessful.

I encountered an issue with a lead I received for Samantha D. The details provided don't align perfectly with her preferences. Although Samantha mentioned her willingness to have professionals travel to her or she can go to them, she mentioned wanting in-person 30-minute classes for her 6-year-old, which is not feasible as I am located in Olympia, WA, while she is in Florida. I noticed a charge of $12.25 for this lead and I am requesting a refund. This situation has occurred more than once. I signed up for an account on my work phone, but it got deactivated during setup without a clear explanation, stating a violation of the terms of use. I couldn't understand why. So, I created a new account using my personal phone as the reason given didn't make sense. Today, after completing a job, I tried to log in on my business phone to request a review from the customer, but the account created on my personal phone was also deactivated. It seems like my business phone might have been flagged. I assure you, I am not engaging in anything suspicious, fraudulent, or illegal. All I want is to support my children by earning a living. My business is suffering, and my income is being impacted by this situation. Your assistance would be greatly appreciated.

I have been a longtime provider on Thumbtack. I maintained great reviews until a recent incident with a client during her wedding. I was occupied with setting up the event, and the client, who was nearby, tried to reach me through phone calls and texts. I promptly rectified the issue by refunding her and apologizing once I was aware. Despite this, she left a negative review which I believe does not accurately reflect the situation or the resolution provided. I ultimately left Thumbtack for The Knot where I received positive feedback. Now that my contract with The Knot has ended, I am considering returning to Thumbtack but I am hesitant due to the unfair review. I am writing to share my experience with a former house cleaner hired six months ago named Carolin from Allentown. Unfortunately, after discovering she had stolen several items from us, we had to let her go about three to four weeks ago. Among the things she took were various cleaning products such as Pledge and Lysol, clothing items like two tee shirts, a camisole, and two pairs of pants, as well as food items like black beans. Even after confronting her and getting back only a portion of what was missing, there are still many unreturned items, adding up to over $[redacted]. I noticed her name was listed on your website before but couldn't find it today. I first contacted her through Next Door, but now that connection is gone as well. I contacted a junk hauler through Thumbtack, but he is unavailable on my requested dates. The hauler asked me to inform Thumbtack to avoid a $70 charge. I am struggling to find a way to do this, and I am disappointed with the lack of customer service. I attempted to call, but the line was unresponsive. I also sent an email with no reply, and the text service did not connect me to anyone. I seek assistance from a representative to resolve this issue, as I am frustrated by the experience. I have decided not to use Thumbtack again in the future.
