I recently had my Thumbtack account deactivated for supposedly breaking community rules. However, Thumbtack failed to clarify which rules were violated. This lack of transparency makes me feel discriminated against as they deny me access to a service available to others. Despite requesting to speak with a supervisor three times, Thumbtack has not responded within their promised timeframe of 24-48 hours. I had a disagreement with a massage therapist over a questionnaire about "draping" during a procedure, which we resolved through messaging. If this is the issue, I urge Thumbtack to thoroughly investigate our dialogue before making accusations. I take these allegations seriously and seek a detailed explanation. If needed, I will consider legal action for discrimination unless Thumbtack can demonstrate otherwise. Thank you.

I would like a refund for the last three charges on my account. The first charge was for a service to iron a wedding dress which I did not request.
I do not recall the details of the second charge.
The third charge, just a few days ago, involved someone who may have been a cross-dresser or a trans person. Despite this, I have experience working with both and have no issue with them. However, this individual contacted me multiple times in one day, offering payment to watch him try on new clothing items. He repeatedly asked for my assistance in shopping but never officially hired me. He proposed sending an Amazon gift card for me to observe him in the new attire. The person's name was Paul Sacks. If I was billed for these services, I request a refund for both incidents I can recall.

I recently hired a worker named "CapnJoe" through Thumbtack to install a garbage disposal, but it's not functioning properly. Upon inspecting under the sink, I noticed that a hose is not connected. I've tried contacting support multiple times and sent an email to [redacted] but haven't received any response. The installation was completed on 12/12/[redacted], and since it was a new garbage disposal, the only issue seems to be with the improper installation, particularly the unconnected hose. I'm looking to have this fixed by someone qualified, as it appears CapnJoe may not have installed it correctly. The next steps I take will determine whether I continue to use Thumbtack's services. In the past, we have been satisfied with the service providers we found through Thumbtack and used the platform frequently. Thank you, Carla F.

When hiring a contractor without meeting them, they often request all your information immediately. I typically remind them that Thumbtack actually discourages this approach. It seems they delay responding, possibly hoping to obtain your phone number for verbal communication. This practice appears to contradict Thumbtack's guidelines. Personally, I am cautious about sharing my phone number with businesses or individuals to safeguard my privacy. Some companies may pay for contact information, creating this situation. I suggest advising contractors that a phone number is unnecessary until they meet with the customer, if at all. If they are punctual as promised, there should be no urgent need for the customer's phone number. Appreciate the consideration!

I paid $[redacted] upfront to Thumbtack for a promotion. I was assured that no money would be deducted from my account until I started using the service. I stopped using the service in [redacted] because no funds were taken out of my account, and we reached an agreement that everything would be resolved. They refunded some of the money. I'm now in a new area and need the $[redacted] refunded to my account promptly so I can start working and unlock my card. I won't use the service again until the $[redacted] is returned, along with $[redacted] in credit for leads. Additionally, I fulfilled all the requirements for 12 professional credits, but they were not given to me due to the outstanding balance.

TD Auto repossessed my truck despite agreeing to a grace period. I had asked for until the following Friday to make the payment, but they took the truck the next day. I provided them with my address, and the truck was gone the next morning. Since getting the loan, my payments haven't reduced the balance. I've paid $28,[redacted] over three years with $[redacted] monthly, yet I still owe over $24,[redacted] on a $35,[redacted] truck. Even though my interest rate was 9%, it seems that I'm paying over 20% for the truck.

I was unaware that my card would be charged each time a lead reaches out to me. I initially linked my debit card for receiving payments, not for these charges. Unfortunately, I didn't have enough funds in my account as I am still unemployed due to the pandemic. The last lead I was billed for has been harassing me, so I had to block their number a month ago. It's concerning to see this ongoing issue with someone attempting to scam DJs in the Philly area. How can I go about receiving a refund for these unauthorized charges?

Dear Thumbtak Admin,
I am writing to address the issue with A Team Electricians regarding the negative experience I had recently. Taylor arrived more than an hour late, did not wear a mask initially, and displayed poor conduct throughout the service. He made multiple mistakes during the installation, including dropping a screw in the mulch and attempting to complete the job without all the necessary components. He also provided inaccurate pricing information, causing confusion about the final cost. I found his customer service to be lacking, and his behavior was disrespectful and unprofessional. I believe that A Team Electricians should be reconsidered as vendors due to these numerous issues.
Best regards.

Taylor arrived 1 hour and 15 minutes after I was informed he was on his way at 8:05 a.m. He knocked instead of using the doorbell and only put on a mask when requested. During the Ring Doorbell installation, I highlighted issues with the setup and missing features. He used my tools instead of his own and accidentally dropped a screw in the mulch, initially hesitating to find it until I insisted. Taylor seemed irritated and rushed, and his tone was rude until I reminded him to be respectful. While hardwiring the solar panel, he tried to force it into place without the USB properly inserted, which I had to correct multiple times. There was confusion over the service charge, initially quoted at $89 then raised to $[redacted], despite him denying it. Overall, his service was subpar and required constant supervision and corrections, resulting in an unsatisfactory experience with A1 Electrical.

I recently hired a business for some work, but I was extremely disappointed in the poor quality of the job and the unprofessional behavior displayed towards me. The initial agreement was for the work to be done on May 24 and May 26, for which I paid $[redacted]. However, upon closer inspection, I noticed many issues with the staining job on the deck, including unstained areas, splashes on siding, and inconsistencies in the finish. Additionally, a new storm door was installed incorrectly, with visible gaps and a loose handle.
When I raised my concerns with the company, I was met with arguments and excuses instead of solutions. The lack of professionalism and disrespect shown towards me, especially as a paying customer, is unacceptable. I believe the damages need to be addressed, and the storm door should be properly reinstalled to fit the opening on all sides. I am seeking a resolution to this matter promptly.
Thank you,
Karen T.

I am unhappy with the direct lead charge feature on Thumbtack. I want to have control over when I purchase a lead, not the platform. The cost of the lead and my availability to take on new clients are important factors in my decision-making process. I was charged $30+ for a lead while being away from Thumbtack. If I do not log in for a few days, I could deplete my budget unknowingly without the opportunity to respond. This is frustrating.
If this issue is not addressed, I may consider taking my business elsewhere. I acknowledge that once I message a lead, I am committed to paying, but being charged for leads I do not even engage with is unacceptable to me.
Another significant annoyance is the inability to speak with a real person by calling a phone number. Having to communicate via text and pay for it to reach a live person is inconvenient. Texting is suitable for quick questions, but discussing or explaining a problem is better done over the phone.
I would appreciate assistance in opting out of automatic charges before I log in to Thumbtack. Thank you.

There are electricians on your website claiming to be licensed and insured, but they may only hold an out-of-state journeyman license and lack liability or workers' compensation insurance. Additionally, some are not registered as legitimate businesses in the state, potentially avoiding tax obligations. In the event of any accidents or damage caused by these unqualified individuals sourced through Thumbtack, legal action could target the platform for neglecting to verify compliance with Florida state regulations for electrical contractors. In Florida, proper authorization entails a Master Electrical License from the state or county, business registration, and appropriate insurance coverage for liability, auto, and workers' compensation if employees are involved.

I have the details for a service provider, E Michaela Laune in Colorado Springs. One of your representatives mentioned that the Thumbtack Pro was ready to address the damages caused while servicing my account. However, when I provided him with the details, he quickly left without showing any intention to stand behind his work, especially concerning insurance claims. Despite the Thumbtack Guarantee mentioned by your agent LindsayR, it seems challenging to find a reliable person from your organization to assist with my claim. How can I get in touch with someone who upholds your assurances? Communication with your team members appears difficult. I can be reached at [redacted] in Colorado Springs and am awaiting your prompt response.

I am having trouble reaching Thumbtack customer service and need assistance with charges related to a customer named Yasser G. This client requested virtual staging services which I do not offer as part of my photography business. I simply take photos of homes as they are with minor adjustments for better presentation. I have never encountered communication issues like this in my two years with Thumbtack. Please resolve this and credit me for the incorrect charge. You can contact me at [redacted]. Thank you. Michael Masi.

I began a project to fix my old Maytag A217 washer a week ago. I was offered a repair service for a total of $[redacted]. Alongside this, I need a new accordion flexible dryer vent for my GE electric dryer. I am looking to either proceed with the initial offer or find a new repair person who can match or beat this price. My schedule is open and flexible for appointments. While cost is a factor, I value experience and expertise in the repairman I choose. Rose Bagot has reached out to me, but I am uncertain if they were the one who provided the $[redacted] estimate.

I would like to share my experience with a repair service I found on Thumbtack regarding KYLE PLUNKETT.
Kyle initially agreed to complete a job at our residence in advance. Unfortunately, he postponed the appointment last minute citing "car trouble". We rescheduled for 3:00 pm the next day, but Kyle didn't arrive or offer any explanation. I attempted to reach him via text and voice messages over the next two days, but received no response.
Although Kyle has received positive reviews for his work, my experience mirrors that of four other reviewers who also had trouble reaching him. It seems reliability may be an issue. If you value dependability, I recommend looking elsewhere for services.

I engaged the services of MRM Mechanical, LLC Plumbing to set up a new garbage disposal and kitchen sink. Two plumbers arrived on July 16, [redacted]. After installation, they demonstrated that the garbage disposal and faucet were working and left. The owner, Michael Medina, later requested payment over the phone. Satisfied with the initial work, I provided my credit card details for a $[redacted] charge. Sadly, the next day, I discovered water pooling under the sink. Despite multiple attempts to contact MRM, leaving messages and sending emails on July 17th and 18th, no one responded. Finally, on Monday, a worker came but was unable to fully resolve the issue. With the faucet still leaking and no hot water, I had to call another plumber who fixed the problem for an additional $63.50. Disappointed with the lack of response from MRM, I felt compelled to seek alternative assistance. Furthermore, I never received a receipt for the initial payment made by credit card.

I have been trying to reach Righteous Pool & Spa in Reno, NV to winterize my in-ground pool, but despite leaving multiple emails and voicemails, I have not received any response after a week. I am unsure if they are still in business or if they have closed down like other pool companies in the area. Could you please check if Righteous Pool & Spa is still operational or provide any updated contact information if available? Thank you.

I was working on a job in Martinez and needed a part for a toilet. The lady mentioned she was going on vacation and wouldn't be back for a week. I assured her I'd return once she was back. After her vacation, she contacted me but I missed her calls. When we finally spoke, I explained I would finish her job after completing my current tasks. Her name is Effie. Last Friday, she filed a dispute. In my response, I committed to refund her $[redacted] upon payment, but I haven't received any updates on the dispute status. It's been four days since it went under review. Can someone provide an update? My name is Michael Shatswell, and I operate Mike's Handyman Services. The dispute time expired, and I'm still awaiting resolution.

Hello, good morning. I am experiencing issues with lead overcharges that I haven't worked. I am unable to reach a representative by phone as the machine always answers. They are charging me for leads I do not want. They gave me 5 leads and charged me for them. I blocked my calendar and still kept receiving leads that I had to pay for. I haven't done any work yet and would like a refund for those leads they charged me for and also for the total deposit of $[redacted] I paid. I want to cancel the app. Ed Martinez was the representative who approached me to join the Thumbtack team and now doesn't respond. He didn't explain that I would have to pay for all the leads that came in, even if I didn't accept them. He only said that I would have to pay if I accepted the job. Please, I hope you can help. So far, they have taken $73 from my deposit!
