Before getting married, I used a Tax Identification Number. I contacted the IRS several times to switch all tax records from the TIN to my Social Security Number once I received it. I filed jointly with my husband for our [redacted] and [redacted] taxes. However, I can't locate any information under my SSN. Could this be due to the SSN not being updated as requested? He was the primary taxpayer on our returns, and we are now separated. I need a tax transcript to see what I owe the IRS as we had a balance. Since I moved, I need to update my address. I appreciate any assistance to get these matters resolved promptly. Thank you.

I had a payment plan with the IRS for $[redacted].00 per month starting from 09/22/17. There was a missed payment in October, and this occurred four more times after that, totaling $[redacted].00 paid. I received a letter on Oct. 4, [redacted], stating what I owe with penalties and interest. I am 81 years old and failed to monitor my online banking for the automatic drafts and forgot about the IRS agreement. I want to pay $[redacted].00 now and resume $[redacted].00 monthly payments through BILL PAY in my bank to have better control. This will make the payments more visible to me. I have tried calling the IRS without luck. I am hoping to resolve this through this message. Thank you.

I was contacted by someone claiming to be Jack Lewis with badge #IRM90782, phone #[redacted], saying I owe $[redacted].00 in federal taxes from [redacted] to [redacted] (Case # DC50138). He threatened legal action if the payment wasn't made urgently. He then transferred me to a "supervisor" named Mike Forcer who asked for payment via gift cards from Walmart or at specific locations in Tulsa, OK, or Rogers, AR. I am unsure if this is a legitimate tax matter or a scam. Your guidance is appreciated. - Irene A S.

I recently received a call informing me that individuals of African American descent have attempted to use my identity for fraudulent tax purposes. This is concerning, especially as I am studying criminal justice. The caller, claiming to be from the IRS, stated that this has been happening since I was an infant. I am determined to identify these individuals before taking any action. If you could kindly reach out to me at [redacted], I would appreciate it. It is important to note that I do not have any African American, Latino, or Puerto Rican relatives in the country. My family background is multiracial and predominantly white. If someone is falsely claiming me on their taxes, I need to address this issue promptly. Thank you.

The phone number provided on an incorrect tax notice does not work outside the U.S. After searching on gethuman.com, I was able to find the correct number. When I called, the menu was unresponsive despite following the instructions. The estate executors of Marjorie Vetter, who relinquished her citizenship years ago, received a notice claiming she owed $[redacted].98 in [redacted]. However, the tax return was amended, filed, and accepted by the IRS in [redacted], with no outstanding amount due. All necessary forms were accurately submitted as Marjorie never earned U.S. income or resided in the country. I kindly request reaching out to me at 1-[redacted] or via email at [redacted] to address this issue. Thank you, Candice V.

I am seeking clarification on how the state tax refund is calculated based on the information provided on the [redacted]-G form. A significant portion of my [redacted] state refund involves various factors such as excess withholding from retirement IRA distributions, refunds from previous years' excessive withholding rolled over, and additional ES payments due to a one-time large distribution in the prior year. These components represent credits for overpaid taxes on income already taxed and should not be seen as new income. I am looking to understand how to differentiate and document these from the portion of the refund that is actually related to state tax overpayments. This part was initially calculated using the standard deduction but was recalculated and reduced when filing with itemized deductions, making it subject to potential income tax.

Since my retirement in [redacted], I have been withdrawing Required Minimum Distributions (RMD) from my original retirement account. Recently, I started a part-time job, and unbeknownst to me, my employer has been deducting a portion of my earnings and depositing it into a separate retirement account, with an additional percentage added.
I am now confused about the RMD situation. The retirement specialist at my current employer is advising me that while I am employed, I do not need to take RMD from the new account, only from my original one. On the other hand, the specialist handling my original retirement account insists that both accounts should be considered for RMD calculations, requiring me to withdraw from the total balance of both accounts.
I would appreciate clarification on which advice is accurate regarding my RMD obligations given my current employment situation.

I have not yet received my tax return despite following all the instructions in the letters and making the necessary calls. I have been waiting for over 90 days since the last correspondence and still have no clarity on the status of my refund.
I visited the IRS office in Los Angeles, and despite requesting assistance in Spanish, I was directed to an English-speaking representative after a long wait on the phone. Due to poor phone reception, I missed the operator's response and did not receive any assistance or an appointment.
I am requesting a formal explanation for the delay in receiving my authorized refund. I urge for a prompt response via email or phone call to address this issue, or I may need to pursue legal action.
Thank you.

Hola, me gustaría pedir su ayuda. Recientemente, he estado recibiendo múltiples llamadas de diferentes números.

I am seeking information on the amount I can withdraw from my SEP to include in my income. I receive Social Security ($14,[redacted]) and approximately $3,[redacted] in dividends. I am a 73-year-old retired individual who files jointly with my 61-year-old homemaker wife. We do not have any other sources of income. Previously, I aimed to keep my income below the taxable threshold of $32,[redacted]. I am aware that the standard deduction for married couples has increased in [redacted] to $24,[redacted], with an additional $2,[redacted] for filers over 65. I am looking to determine the maximum distribution I can add to my income while staying below the taxable threshold. Thank you for your time, and I look forward to your response. Sincerely, William B.

I encountered a specific issue and attempted to contact support through the automated system, but waited on hold for 4 hours only to have the call disconnected after a brief connection. Turning to the internet for assistance, I was unable to find the necessary information. Creating an account proved challenging as it required documentation I didn't possess. The alternative method suggested was to send a letter, a process I've been waiting on for almost 6 months. After much effort, I eventually connected with an agent, albeit through unconventional means, to obtain the needed information. While I understand the constraints on support availability, it should be more straightforward to reach a real person, especially for specific queries. It seems easier to engage with the government for payments than when seeking assistance.

I signed up for a payment plan, but the $[redacted] monthly payment is too high. I need to reduce it to $[redacted] and also want the funds to be withdrawn on the 10th of each month, not earlier. The IRS is taking out the money before the 10th, causing my account to be overdrawn due to unexpected withdrawals. Last month it was on the ninth, and the month before, on the 10th. I can't afford more fees and penalties at the moment.

I received letters from the IRS stating that I had until November 7 to pay my taxes due to default in the agreement. After speaking with an IRS agent and discussing my situation, I was advised to file my [redacted] taxes, which were not filed due to personal problems. The agent agreed to extend the deadline to November 10 for filing the taxes and to reevaluate the arrangement. I recently returned to Illinois from working in Kentucky and learned that my H&R Block agent of several years has moved on to a new position outside the company. I am in need of 10 additional days to address this matter and hope to locate my previous agent. I appreciate your understanding and cooperation. Please provide me with the address in Cincinnati that the IRS agent mentioned during our conversation. Thank you for your assistance. - T.L. Schmitz

My son is applying for the FAFSA. Despite entering all my tax information including my Social Security number, the form is not linking to my tax returns. I requested a transcript on October 22nd, but I have yet to receive it. Today, I called 1-[redacted] to request another transcript. I am concerned about why the tax returns are not linking and when I will receive the transcript I requested. It is frustrating not knowing if my current request will be received and fulfilled. My name is Christine C. D'Acquisto, born on 5/31/68. I am looking for a direct phone number to speak to someone without going through a lengthy menu process or being hung up on.

I was recently informed by the U.S. Embassy in the Philippines about serious tax delinquencies on my behalf. I have been residing here since [redacted] and I have not paid taxes during this period. Additionally, before leaving the USA, my former wife was supposed to be filing our taxes as married filing jointly, but I discovered she was filing as married filing separately for around 6 years. This totals to approximately 11 years of back taxes that I apparently owe. Due to financial constraints, international calling is difficult for me, and I would greatly appreciate correspondence via email if possible. Alternatively, they can contact me via my home phone at country code 63 - [redacted]19 or through email at [redacted]

I am inquiring about the status of my refund check. It was supposedly mailed on 11-02-18, and based on the expected delivery time, I should have received it a week ago. This delay is causing significant inconvenience as it may impact our Thanksgiving plans and utility payments. I am hoping for a resolution to this matter promptly. Could the refund be processed via direct deposit to either my savings account or my Netspend account? Your assistance in this situation would be greatly appreciated.

Hello,
I am Aaron Thomas, and I recently received a letter from the IRS regarding my service in a combat zone from [redacted] to [redacted], which is accurate. However, the letter claims that the information provided is incomplete or a confirmation from the DOD is missing. To ensure I am covered by the combat zone tax postponement, I must address this by [redacted]. I have a couple of inquiries. If I already filed taxes for the fiscal years [redacted], [redacted], and [redacted], does this letter have any significance? Additionally, I am currently unable to obtain my orders or a letter from my commanding officer due to my presence at a rehab clinic, and my parent command is stationed in Okinawa, Japan. Is it possible to request an extension given these circumstances?

I requested an extension to file my [redacted] federal tax return until October 15, [redacted]. My accountant filed it electronically on September 20, [redacted]. However, the IRS acknowledged receiving it but refused to process it. They sent a letter on October 9, [redacted], asking for copies of pages 1 and 2 of the return, details of my [redacted] estimated tax payments, income verification documents, and a copy of the resend request letter. They gave me 20 days to comply. Due to personal circumstances, I only read the letter on November 25, [redacted]. I do not understand why I am being penalized for their error. I hope the IRS will process my return promptly and assist me. Contact me at [redacted] for further assistance. Matthew J Glaros

I need help with a refund from a company pretending to be an appliance repair service. I hired Hows Appliance Repair, at [redacted], but chose not to proceed. I've been owed a refund since 11/8 but they have not sent it despite promises and are ignoring my calls now. As a senior on a fixed income, this money is crucial for me. I'm Barbara Delin at [redacted]. I'm willing to share more details when needed. I fear I may not be the only senior citizen dealing with this dishonest company.

I require a Verification of Non-Filing from the IRS for [redacted] to provide to my college for financial aid. I have made multiple requests, including during the summer, the start of fall, and mid-fall online. I even submitted three [redacted]-T forms with different addresses as it seemed the IRS did not have my correct one on file. Despite these efforts, I have not received the necessary form, and the fall semester is coming to a close. It is crucial for me to obtain this form promptly to secure financial aid. Unfortunately, none of the IRS hotline numbers have been helpful, and I am feeling increasingly limited in my options. I want to clarify that I did not file a tax return for [redacted].
