I turned over the plates and sold my car on 04-30-18, the VIN is JTDA[redacted]90. I signed the title over to the new owner, Mr. Rodriguez, residing at [redacted] Port Richmond St, Staten Island, NY. On August 12, [redacted], his daughter had an accident in Galloway, NJ, involving the [redacted] Toyota Echo registered under my name. The USAA insurance company is contacting me regarding the incident, claiming ownership of the vehicle. I informed them of the sale and plate return to the DMV in New York on 30th St. DMV confirmed plate return. I seek written verification that I am not the owner and don't bear responsibility for the car since two years. USAA persists due to difficulties locating Mr. Rodriguez to settle the damages. I am concerned about this situation and seek guidance.

Hello, my name is David S. I am a law-abiding citizen living in New York. Recently, I had an issue with a car I purchased from a local car sales and repair shop. After making several payments, I received the vehicle with an inspection sticker, but the engine light was on. Unfortunately, I was pulled over for an inadequate exhaust noise, and the police officer mentioned that the inspection sticker was fraudulent. It turns out the shop was involved in fraudulent practices, and the owner passed away due to drug addiction. Now, I am facing financial losses and legal issues due to the problems with the car. I need assistance in resolving this matter and ensuring that I receive a properly inspected and safe vehicle as per our agreement. Your help in this situation would be greatly appreciated.

My NYS Restricted License is set to expire on 05/02/20, but I can't renew online due to tax-related restrictions, not driving violations. I am 72 years old and following the stay-at-home guidelines, limiting my exposure to public places. Concerned about driving my grandchildren once schools reopen, I'm unsure of the next steps. Will I be able to renew my license after the expiration date passes, or will I be unable to drive at all? I rely on my license to transport my grandchildren, so any guidance on what to do next would be appreciated.

I recently registered my new vehicle to update the title and obtain the registration. Simultaneously, I attempted to transfer my license plate from my old vehicle to the new one, completing the MV-82 form as instructed on the NYS DMV site. Unfortunately, upon receiving the registered mail, I noticed it was for the incorrect vehicle. Despite multiple attempts through email and phone calls, I have been unable to connect with a representative to address this issue.

My son is on active duty in the military, and his car is currently in Maryland awaiting his next stationed location. He needs to renew his registration and get an emissions inspection. Is it possible for him to have the emissions inspection done in Maryland and have the results sent to New York for his registration renewal? His car is titled and insured in New York, his official residence. He will be in Maryland for Christmas and won't have time to go back to New York. The main question is if he can obtain an emissions inspection in Maryland to renew his registration in New York. Any advice is appreciated. Thank you.

I visited the DMV in Port Jefferson, Suffolk County to renew my learner's permit. I previously had a permit that expired in December [redacted]. I brought my social security card and a [redacted] W-2 for 3 points of ID, but was informed I needed 6 points in total. I possess an expired military ID, which has been expired for approximately 5 years. My current bank account was closed during the pandemic due to insufficient funds. I attempted to open a new account without a photo ID to meet the 6 points requirement but was unsuccessful as banks required a valid photo ID. Contacting customer service only led to automated messages. I have a list of potential documents to fulfill the 6 points. If unable to open a bank account, my expired military ID is my only option to meet the necessary requirements. I seek guidance on how to proceed or a number to reach a live representative. Thank you.
