Hello, When I secured my Instagram account with two-step authentication through Duo Mobile, I unfortunately uninstalled the Duo Mobile app from my mobile phone over time. I reinstalled the Duo Mobile app and tried to retrieve the code needed for my Instagram account, but I couldn't find it in the app, leading to my failure. I realized afterwards that I didn't save the backup codes. My request to the Instagram support team is to remove the two-step authentication running through Duo Mobile from my account so that I can access my account with just my password without any hassle. I was logged out of Instagram, and when I attempted to log back in, I encountered the error message "Unfortunately, a problem has occurred." I've attempted to reset my password and even tried to verify using the video option to confirm my identity. Despite receiving emails with backup codes and verification confirmations, I continue to face the same error message when using the backup code. Furthermore, I no longer receive the verification code via SMS.

On September 3, [redacted], a friend alerted me to a suspicious Instagram account impersonating me, triggering me to report and block it. Subsequently, I received emails requesting a photo of myself holding my government-issued ID to confirm ownership of my account. I received a message from an individual claiming to be an old friend asking for assistance in re-authenticating his Instagram account. Not being familiar with Instagram procedures, I complied without suspicion. Consequently, my account was hacked. The hacker altered the username, email, and phone number associated with my account. Currently, he is using my compromised account to promote bitcoin services to my followers. The hacker demanded money in exchange for returning access to my account, which I declined. I am distraught as my account contains cherished photos. I kindly request help in either recovering, deleting, or disabling the account in question. This morning, we discovered that we couldn't access our account. We suspect it was hacked as we received an email from Indonesia about a device login. The account was created by former employees, and we're struggling to regain access and reset the forgotten password. We last accessed it on August 30th. The original email for the account was [redacted] but was changed to [redacted] when we had control. The phone number associated with the account was also changed by the hacker. We're unsure of the device used for the sign-up, but it was likely an iPhone or Windows OS. The only username we used was @burnhambeecheshotel.

My Instagram account was hacked. The hackers used a friend's account to request a code that was texted to me. They changed the account name to "hippy_dippy_04," the phone number, and one of the associated emails. I can't provide enough details for Instagram's automated system to verify my identity. Though my device and phone number have changed, I can access the secondary email and remember the old password. Unfortunately, I don't know the authenticator code set up by the hacker. I believe my accounts have been compromised. I realized this when I changed my password after noticing the hack, but before I could enable two-factor authentication, the hacker activated it, locking me out of both my personal and business accounts. Despite multiple attempts, I have been unsuccessful in regaining access. Whenever I try the video selfie authentication, an error message appears, preventing the confirmation. I even received an email from Facebook requesting a detailed account of the incident, directing me to Instagram support, which offered no practical assistance. I responded to the email but have not received further guidance on where to submit my report, leaving me in limbo for three days. The Instagram support page lacked guidance for hacked accounts, only providing basic security tips. As a temporary solution, I created a new Instagram account linked to Facebook to reconnect with my friends and followers and block the compromised accounts.
