I was recommended to try filing my [redacted] taxes online with H & R Block by my son, who said the service would be free since my income is under $66,[redacted]. Despite setting up an account and starting to enter my information, I encountered a problem when the website wouldn't accept my Social Security [redacted]-SSA details, insisting on a [redacted]-R instead. After waiting on hold, I learned that H & R Block only offers free filing for those under 61, which I found to be discriminatory and not clearly presented on their site. I want to stop the daily emails and have my account deleted. Any help is appreciated. Thank you, Megen D. from Orange, California.

Hello, I have been using H&R Block's services for years with my husband. I am frustrated with the online scheduling system for appointments. Although I usually enjoy online convenience, my recent experiences have been disappointing: 1. Two weeks ago, I set up an appointment online, received a confirmation email, but later got called to say the time was not available. 2. After rescheduling via email and not hearing back, I called the office for guidance, only to be directed back to the online system. 3. I scheduled online again, confirmed via email, arranged everything, only to be told on the day of the appointment that the time was not available, causing more stress. The multiple reschedulings have been inconvenient and added unnecessary stress. Despite our positive history with H&R Block, these experiences make me hesitant to return. I urge for improvements to prevent losing more loyal customers.

As a UK citizen residing in Scotland, I resided and worked in Houston from [redacted] to [redacted], where I fulfilled IRS filing requirements. Upon retiring from Halliburton and returning to the UK in [redacted], I recently received a [redacted] Tax Reporting Statement from Fidelity USA stating that I have an active stock plan with them, from which no funds were withdrawn. This situation raises questions about the need to file a tax return with the IRS regarding this account. Can H&R Block provide guidance on whether I should file a US tax return this year?

I have used H&R Block to file my taxes for a few years. Recently, there was an error on my [redacted] taxes at the Hazlet, NJ location regarding a question about a felony account. This mistake caused me to be ineligible for education money. I have never been convicted of any crime. Last year in Jersey City, I experienced long wait times and a chaotic environment during my appointment, which likely led to the error. This year, the agent amended my [redacted] tax refund, but it will take 16 weeks to receive the money for my college education. Due to this mistake, I missed out on funds that could have been gaining interest had they been received on time. I hope this issue is addressed to prevent future errors and ensure more careful handling of important matters by H&R Block employees.

I had a terrible experience at H&R Block at the beginning of March. I have been a loyal customer for over 20 years, but I am never going back. The tax preparer seemed clueless, asking for my birth date multiple times. After my taxes were completed, I requested a review, but the preparer never called. When I followed up, the receptionist was unhelpful and claimed they needed my W-2 forms, which I had already given. After more back and forth, they finally said they were done. When I went to pick up my taxes, the preparer was there and blamed the delay on me wanting to wait. I ended up paying almost $[redacted], which is outrageous. I complained and was promised a call from the manager, but I am still waiting. The service was unacceptable, and the cost was exorbitant. I will not be returning to H&R Block.

I encountered issues logging into My Block account to upload tax documents for my representative. Despite providing my username and password from last year, it didn't work. After trying the Forgot username/password link, it verified my username through my email. However, the security question about my sibling's birth month and year stumped me as I didn't recall setting it to that. After a few failed attempts, the system prompted me for personal information, and after providing name, SSN, and DOB, I got locked out. I urgently need to resolve this to meet the tax deadline. Thank you. -Jane F.

I have been a loyal H&R Block customer for years, but my recent experience with online tax filing was disappointing. The tax advisor was rude and made errors in my return, particularly regarding my vehicle expenses and depreciation. I would like a refund or credit towards an in-office consultation with a more knowledgeable advisor. The advisor's limited availability due to another job impacted our communication, and her attitude was off-putting. I expect H&R Block's staff to prioritize their role with the company during regular business hours. The advisor blamed me for input errors and failed to consider my past tax returns. I hope customer support can rectify this situation promptly, as I prefer not to deal with the advisor directly anymore.

I have contacted twice regarding my dissatisfaction with your company. For the second time this year, HRB has made an error. This time, what prompted my complaint is that I clearly mentioned to the preparer that the necessary lines on the form were the same as last year. However, upon returning to sign the paperwork, I had to compare it line by line with last year's return. I had to point out that significant deductions were missing. I had to make additional calls to gather the missing figures from my insurance and the appraisal district. The representative had to consult another colleague to complete the return on the computer. Unfortunately, it was still incorrect as they forgot to include something for first-time homeowners. As a customer, I was surprised and now regret not mentioning these issues sooner. Could someone please address and correct these mistakes promptly?

While preparing my tax return on your website using a MacBook, I encountered an issue with the "import previous year's return" prompt. When attempting to access the file from my email inbox by switching tabs, the website prompted me to leave the page. Selecting "yes" resulted in the closure of my Safari session, deleting all open tabs, many of which were crucial work-related tasks. This unprecedented action wasted a significant amount of time as I now need to reconstruct the lost tabs. This incident has been frustrating and has led me to decide against using your services moving forward due to the inconvenience caused by this programming flaw.

My name is Thomas M. Spanton. I paid to file my rent receipts, but unfortunately, they were never filed. I visited an H&R Block branch in Kingston for my taxes. After my taxes were done, the employee informed me that I owed $2.21. I mentioned I had medical expenses and rent receipts that might assist my claim. With the rent receipts, she estimated I could get over $[redacted] back. She advised me to pay $[redacted] before leaving and to bring the receipts later. I followed these instructions promptly. To my surprise, I received a notice from the Canada Revenue Agency saying I owe $2.21. I feel like I was overcharged for filing the rent receipts and would like a refund for the excess amount paid.

Good Morning, I recently had an extremely bad customer service encounter with HR Block Emerald Card. The supervisor abruptly ended our conversation, and despite my frustration, I maintained a respectful tone. I explained repeatedly that I made a minimum payment on my line of credit as instructed after filing my taxes at HR Block. I was told it counted as my payment and not to make another one. However, I never received any further communication or bills. The bank claimed I didn't adhere to the terms, but HR Block confirmed my compliance. The lack of customer service and poor communication shouldn't result in customers being mistreated. I'm shocked by the experience and plan to inform others about the unprofessionalism I faced. I will report this to the Better Business Bureau to shed light on this issue. It's disheartening to be treated this way, especially by a supervisor. It's my hope that sharing my experience will help others avoid similar situations. Best, J. T.

I completed a survey for the Honolulu office, ensuring my confidentiality as per the privacy policy. Unfortunately, the office manager, Edna, breached this by contacting my sister about my concerns with the fees, causing family issues. Despite seeking resolution, the office ignored me initially, then lied before eventually apologizing. However, I am currently being ignored again. I have tried reaching out to the privacy department for an email response from management, but my attempts have been disregarded.

Hi, I have already filed my [redacted] taxes and have some questions regarding the tax year [redacted]. Here's my situation: 1) My husband and I bought a house, but only his name is on the loan. Can I still claim a tax credit for the home even if my husband is also claiming it? 2) If the answer to question 1 is yes, what documentation do I need to prove I should get a tax credit for the home loan payments I make? 3) If I need paperwork, how can I obtain it if my name is not on the loan? Would my bank statements showing the monthly payments be enough? 4) If I can claim the tax credit, do I need to update my W4 with my employer to ensure the correct deductions are made? 5) If so, what exactly do I need to inform my employer? Is there a specific form to fill out? 6) In California, is an income of $85K or a joint income of over $200K considered high enough to request changes to my W4 with my employer? Thank you, Indira

I have been a customer since [redacted] and have encountered issues with late filing extensions by my EA for tax years 2[redacted]. Despite providing information in advance, there have been penalties and now a levy. When contacting the office, the manager, Dawn, was dismissive of my concerns. Mary K is the EA handling my case. I have requested audit emails from the state, which were not followed up on promptly. We owe $[redacted] to the feds and are facing a state audit error of $[redacted]. I am requesting help to resolve these issues promptly. I have already spoken to Scott Hansen with no resolution. Please contact me urgently as the deadlines are approaching, and the charges are a result of missed deadlines and errors on H&R Block's part. I am in urgent need of assistance due to my upcoming surgery. Thank you.

This morning we noticed an issue with the [redacted] form after an update on the PC H&R Block Premium E-File plus State software. The form is only printing half a page and appears to be missing pages needed for official filing. We attempted to contact customer service for help but were on hold for half an hour without success. Due to the printing problem, we had to pay $19.95 to file electronically. The version information from the "Help" menu is Federal Version -[redacted] WDPA-[redacted]-UH4BFZ2S and Additional Version Info IL+eVersion [redacted]. We are hoping for a solution to this issue or clarification on another possible update.

I am currently using the H&R Block do-it-yourself [redacted] tax software. I need to repay my Marketplace premium tax credit due to my higher income. I believe I can claim the portion I am repaying as an extra medical deduction. However, I can't seem to find where to enter this deduction in the software. Could this be an oversight in the software design or am I overlooking something? Where should I input the PTC repayment amount as an additional medical deduction?

I used the Online Service and hired a Tax Preparer for guidance. Initially, she was excellent, and I have used her services before. However, upon receiving my returns, I noticed that important forms, like the [redacted] V, had a watermark. I have contacted her multiple times but received no response. Furthermore, I have received additional forms requiring an amended return, but she has not addressed this either. I have requested to be reassigned to a different preparer. I believe HRBlock has not provided adequate customer service in this situation. I have been a loyal customer for many years and this is the first problem I've experienced. I am seeking assistance to resolve this issue promptly. Thank you.

Dear Sir/Madam, I have been a loyal customer of HRB for nearly a decade, receiving tax services at the [redacted] Livingston St (Brooklyn, NY) location with Tax Pro Ms. Janel Thomas. Despite my efforts to schedule appointments and maintain a good relationship, the customer service at this site has been lacking. I had a specific date in mind, April 3rd from 6pm-8pm, to meet with Ms. Thomas. I encountered issues with the scheduling process and felt disappointed by the handling of my request by the representatives at the office. I hope for a resolution to this matter promptly to avoid seeking services elsewhere. Best regards, Divina

In [redacted], my partner and I used H&R Block for our taxes. Towards the end of the process, we were directed to consult a tax expert. The expert informed us that we needed to amend our [redacted] and [redacted] taxes related to our rental property. What we were not told upfront was that this amendment would cost an additional $[redacted] on top of the initial filing fees. After almost a year, the expert completed our taxes, but unfortunately, they are still incorrect. Despite our concerns, the expert insisted that the paperwork was accurate and refused to fix it. Now, we are receiving notices from the federal government, and both North and South Carolina about discrepancies or additional taxes owed. It's frustrating as these errors are causing unexpected financial problems due to the inaccurate filing by the tax expert.

I used H&R Block tax software to file my taxes electronically on 3/3/19. Despite this, my return has been pending for 28 days when checking the E-File Status. I contacted customer service twice regarding this issue. During my first call, a representative advised me to wait 21 days before further assistance. On the second call, another representative informed me that there was an admin hold on my return, which should not be the case. After being transferred and kept on hold, I eventually ended the call. I am now looking for help through Get Human to address the admin hold on my return and successfully file my taxes.
