My recent visit to Dollar General on Lapalco Blvd in Marrero, Louisiana, was disappointing. I encountered a lack of baskets which led to a frustrating interaction with a cashier who instructed me to get one from outside. The loud music made it difficult to communicate with my wife, and we were reprimanded for speaking loudly. The unhelpful staff and lack of customer service overshadowed the convenience and prices of the store. I tried to ask for assistance with no success as the employee was wearing earphones. The overall experience was poor, and the preferential treatment towards certain customers based on race was evident. Despite the convenience and prices, I decided not to make any purchases and left the store without checking out. The unprofessionalism and rudeness encountered during my visit have deterred me from returning to this location. I hope this feedback can be used for training purposes to improve the team and leadership for better customer service in the future.

Hello. Today, I was shopping at my local Dollar General and had an issue with a promotion in the fleece throw aisle. There were tags stating a discount of $5 off with a purchase of a fleece throw priced from $5 to $15. However, when I got to the register, the discount did not apply as advertised on the tags in that section.
I informed the cashier, who turned out to be the store manager, Judy. She removed all the tags from the shelves and mentioned contacting corporate about the situation. I explained that the tags were there when I made my purchase, but Judy insisted on contacting corporate. Despite this, I bought the items, including the fleece, without the expected discount.
I am confused as to why the promotion was displayed on the tags but not honored. This occurred at [redacted] E Main St, Rock Hill SC [redacted], with cashier/manager Judy on Sunday, Nov 24th at 2 pm EST. I can provide the receipt if necessary.

I have submitted a complaint online multiple times, but I have not received any response for over a week. I am unsure if the correct channel is being used for my complaint. Each time I try to submit the complaint, it prompts me to share it on social media, which I do not believe is appropriate. I need someone to contact me regarding this matter. I am unsure if the district manager is not informing the store manager about my complaint, as the store manager claims to have no knowledge of it. This issue needs to be addressed promptly.

I am experiencing difficulties setting up an account due to issues with entering my information repeatedly. I face challenges with setting up a password since the requirements are unclear, and even after numerous attempts, I am unable to meet the password criteria. Additionally, receiving verification codes sometimes leads to errors stating a wrong password, even when a password hasn't been successfully set. This process has become incredibly frustrating as I've spent hours attempting to create an account. The lack of clarity on password requirements and the repetitive nature of inputting information has caused immense stress, leading to health concerns. I hope to resolve these issues soon to access the discounts I urgently need.

Hello, my name is SGT Andrew G. About five years ago, I was employed at your company in Eightmile, AL. I am currently living in Germany and experiencing difficulty contacting anyone by phone. I need detailed information regarding my job history from the past five years to complete a form. This form is of utmost importance, so I kindly request that someone email me the start and end dates of my employment with DG or reach out to me by phone at [redacted][redacted]. Thank you.

My name is J.N., a former employee and a regular customer at Store Number [redacted] in Great Bend, Kansas at [redacted] 10th Street. During my recent visit, I went directly to the soda section, made my selection, and then moved to another aisle without engaging with anyone. When I proceeded to make a purchase, I was unexpectedly informed by a store clerk in front of other customers that I was not welcome back. Feeling embarrassed by the public confrontation, I sensed the clerk's rudeness, especially since this interaction was not the first negative encounter. I will now take my business elsewhere, despite the inconvenience it poses due to the distance I have to travel. It is disheartening as a long-standing patron of the store to be treated this way, and it has deterred me from wanting to return.

I recently visited the Bethlehem store and waited in line for 25 minutes. I had a troubling experience with cashier Rita. She frequently removes my coupons from my digital account without permission. Additionally, she invaded my husband's personal space by patting his head. This upset my husband, who uses a wheelchair, and embarrassed him. Rita should focus on working efficiently rather than engaging in lengthy conversations to speed up the lines. She also threw away my receipt when I asked for it, insisting there were no coupons on it, but I still wanted to keep it. Overall, Rita's actions provide poor customer service. If the store reviews the footage from December 14th, they will notice the long lines of frustrated customers, which was unnecessary.

I applied for a job two months ago and went through multiple rounds of interviews, including meeting with a director and a regional director. After being told the next step was to interview with HR and then a VP, I was eventually informed they selected someone else for the district manager role. However, the position is still listed for the San Antonio region. I am surprised and disappointed given my qualifications. I would appreciate any feedback on why I was not considered for the District Manager position.

I recently worked at a store in Fruitport, Michigan. Unfortunately, I faced a difficult situation when I had to let my boss know I couldn't work on Christmas Eve. Instead of receiving understanding, my boss issued a first and final write-up using inappropriate language. Considering this, I am seeking a possible transfer to the Spring Lake, Michigan store where I have enjoyed working in the past. I value my job and the work environment but cannot continue under such disrespectful treatment from my boss. I eagerly await your response. Thank you.

I inquired about the price of some clearance candles at the store as there is no phone or internet connection available inside. The cashier rang them up, but I noticed they were showing as $4.50 instead of $3. I asked about the difference and felt the cashier was rude in response. When a coupon didn't apply to my purchase, I requested to remove the air freshener. She seemed frustrated and called the next customers forward while I was still there. I felt disrespected and left without completing my purchase. This is not the first time I have experienced her attitude, but today was the final straw. It is disappointing to be treated poorly as a paying customer. I may consider shopping at Walmart instead of Dollar General if she is the manager present. Her distinct blue Cadillac parked in front of the store makes her easy to recognize.

I tried to return a candle with a wide wick issue, having to wait for the store manager who didn't handle it well. Despite having the receipt, the manager refused a refund insisting we knew about the wick before purchasing. My husband expressed concerns about the fire hazard, but the manager reluctantly allowed us to exchange it for a candle of the same value. This conflicts with Dollar General's return policy of accepting returns. I'm puzzled why the first associate couldn't assist us initially, causing us to come back for a disappointing outcome, and why the store manager didn't adhere to DG's policy with a receipt in hand. Their unprofessional behavior, asserting authority, and demeaning attitude were off-putting, giving the impression of an autocratic management style that intimidates associates. As someone in customer service myself, this treatment is unacceptable. I'm a regular $50/week customer at DG and feel let down by this manager's conduct. Sincerely, D.H.

At the Dollar General in Fayette, Alabama, located at [redacted] Temple Avenue, my family faced a distressing situation. Our 3-year-old son had an accident, and we needed to change his clothes. Despite remembering public restrooms from a previous visit, this time there was a sign stating they were out of order. Understanding the policy on restroom use, we politely asked if we could change our child indoors quickly, but our request was denied. It was disheartening to confront this situation, feeling unheard and judged. As a result, we had to handle the issue in the parking lot, which was uncomfortable for both our child and us. This experience left us deeply disappointed and frustrated, leading me to reconsider future visits to this Dollar General branch.

During my recent visit to your store on Missouri Avenue in West Plains, Missouri, I encountered an unpleasant experience with cashier Sharron. When I tried to make a purchase, Sharron seemed disinterested and threw my change at me. I spoke to a manager who was also rude. The lack of customer service skills displayed by your employees is concerning. I cannot overlook this behavior and have decided not to return to your store. It is disappointing that Sharron and the male employee treated me this way, and I believe an apology is necessary. Your company should reevaluate the hiring process to avoid hiring individuals with such poor customer service abilities.

Penny's management style at work has been causing issues lately. She struggles to communicate with customers and handle problems effectively. Recently, she accused me of holding items without my knowledge, leading to a confrontation where she yelled at me as I left the store. This behavior not only reflects poorly on Dollar General but also impacts her ability to retain employees. Her inconsistent statements to both me and other employees, including a dispute about returning items, highlight her poor management. Additionally, she allows her family to take items from the store, which is unprofessional. I believe she needs to address concerns directly with individuals rather than spreading misinformation. Her inability to manage the store effectively and blaming others for her mistakes is unacceptable. - Deb

I recently purchased a Verizon Alcatel Avalon phone from Dollar General for $85 in Truman, MN. The phone, listed for $45, has a return restriction policy that was not communicated to me at the time of purchase. Verizon refuses to activate this prepaid phone on my non-prepaid contract with them. Dollar General declined my return request at two different locations, even though I only opened the package after realizing the activation issue. I am now in possession of a phone that is of no use to me and struggling financially. This lack of customer service and misinformation is unacceptable.

I recently had a terrible experience at DG Raccoon in Austintown, Ohio. Two female employees were extremely rude to me. They yelled about my shopping limits, causing me distress as a senior citizen with a sick neighbor. Despite grabbing items for both of us, they gossiped and were disrespectful at checkout. When my husband approached, one employee rudely scolded him, unprovoked. Their behavior triggered my chronic PTSD and made me shake, yet they continued their poor treatment. One even took a personal call while I waited. Their disrespectful conduct, including swearing, was unacceptable. I left feeling shaken and disrespected, even losing my keys in the parking lot due to the stress. I plan to report this behavior to the police as their treatment of customers is appalling and should not be ignored. I have been a loyal customer spending a significant amount at DG and expect better treatment. This incident has deeply upset me, and I feel it is important to hold these employees accountable for their actions. Thank you.

I shop almost daily at the Dollar General near my home. Bargain hunting and using coupons are some of my favorite pastimes. Recently, a new cashier accused me of theft, making me show her where I put down the item. Today, while using the Dollar General app, the same cashier spoke negatively about me to a colleague within earshot of other customers. When I went to pay, she didn't speak to me and slammed my receipt on the counter. This behavior is unacceptable, especially since I have never done anything wrong. The incident happened at store [redacted] in Thomson, Georgia, around 3:52 PM on the 31st. My name is Crista H., and my email is [redacted].

I wanted to share a concerning experience I had at the Marissa, IL store ([redacted]) today at 8:11 am. While making a purchase, the cashier mentioned she had an upset stomach and didn't want to be at work. She also mentioned knowing people who were tested for COVID-19 after the fact. I felt uneasy hearing this, given the current situation. I just wanted to bring this to your attention. Hopefully, this can be addressed appropriately. Thank you.

Regarding a store in Montgomery, PA, I'd like to share my recent experience. I am a 61-year-old woman with cancer, and walking is not easy for me. Upon visiting the store, I found all the aisles packed with merchandise, which made it difficult to navigate. There was only one clothes rack outside and one in a crowded aisle, with legs sticking out too far. While trying to maneuver around it, I tripped and fell hard on my face, causing my tooth to go through my lip. Despite my loud fall and cries for help, no employees came to check on me or offer assistance. Even when I asked for my husband, who was three aisles away, nobody reacted. I believe in these challenging times, showing some compassion and concern is important. This incident occurred on April 3, [redacted], between 12:30 and 1 pm. I urge the store to review the camera footage and address their employees' lack of response. It's crucial for them to show more care in such situations.

The employees at the Dollar General on Maryland Avenue are the rudest people I have ever met. They yell at customers and make inappropriate jokes to females. Instead of working, they wander around the store shopping while on the clock. At checkout, they often disappear to the restroom or to smoke a cigarette. The store is poorly maintained and messy, with items blocking the aisles. Favoritism is evident, and mistakes are not corrected - like selling expired medicine, as I experienced with a cold medicine from [redacted]. When addressed, they blamed the manager for not removing it from the shelf. I will be warning my friends and family to avoid shopping at this location.
