What are the hours and when should I call?

DirecTV operates the call center for this 800-496-4915 phone number 24 hours, 7 days. The short answer is that you should call on a Thursday. This observation and the following section are based on analysis of a sample set of 37,758 calls made in the last 90 days using our free, web-based phone (see above).
An important note: busy times vs hold times vs best time to call
When we refer to busy or less busy times, we are talking about the volume of calls. The busiest times are when the most people are calling this DirecTV phone number (least busy times have fewer people calling). This high call volume does not necessarily mean that you will have a long hold time when you call. Companies like DirecTV staff their call centers differently based on the time of day and day of the week, so you may experience a shorter wait on hold at the busiest of times. When we refer to the best time to call, we are referring to the optimal combination of lower call volume and shorter wait times.

The least busy time to call

The least busy day to call DirecTV is Thursday. The most busy day to call is Wednesday. Again, this is based on a sample of 37,758 calls made with our AI-powered, web-based phone in the last 90 days.

The shortest wait on hold

We measured the shortest hold times to be on Monday. The longest wait in the queue on average occurs on Friday.

The best time to call

In summation, the best day to call DirecTV is Thursday. This is not the day with the shortest wait on hold in the phone system, but we still recommend it for its ideal combination of low call volume and short hold times. Plus we believe that DirecTV staffs the call center well on Thursday.

Calling this DirecTV Customer Number

Dec 12, 2023

Calling DirecTV isn’t a tedious process, but callers should expect to spend some time on the phone, as I recently learned. When I first called, the automated system’s recording stated that my call would be recorded, and I could press 8 for Spanish.

After this quick message, no menu of options was provided, so I had to say a word or phrase indicating my issue, question, or concern. As a DirecTV subscriber, I wanted to find out if there was any update to a recent dilemma restricting local access to certain stations. Many customers found out that due to failed contract negotiations, some local stations were being pulled from DirecTV's lineup.

I wasn't sure which phrase or word would lead me directly to an agent, so I said 'customer service.' At this point, I was placed on hold and was told my estimated wait time was one minute. This was accurate, as a customer service representative answered in around 30 seconds. I began explaining my situation, and as a customer, I wanted to find out the latest information regarding the non-negotiated channels.

Unfortunately, the rep said he couldn't help me since I had been transferred to the commercial accounts department and needed to speak with someone in residential accounts. He placed me on another hold, but this time, I was redirected back to the automated system, which prompted me to enter an account number. After providing this information, I was asked to state whether I was calling about satellite TV, internet TV or streaming. I also had to restate my issue or concern, so I said 'customer service.' Another hold led to a longer wait time, probably around five minutes.

I was getting impatient but hung on for a little longer until a rep came on the line and asked how he could help me. Quickly stating my concern again regarding the inaccessible channels, the rep patiently but succinctly shared that negotiations were ongoing, but at this time, there was no update as to when the local channels may return. He also shared the frustration that many subscribers across the country are experiencing, adding that several customers had canceled their plans even though the major networks held more responsibility in removing the channels from the lineup.

Expressing my displeasure at the lack of information about a potential timeline for the returning channels, I asked if there were any concessions DirecTV could offer in the meantime. He assured me that DirecTV is trying to do what's best for their customers and appreciates the continued support. He suggested that I also contact my local stations to share my opinion, he said I could check back in a week or so and would also attempt to offer a small credit to my account. While I didn't receive a helpful resolution to this problem, I was content to speak with a rep and share my frustration over this ongoing challenge.
