There are a dozen reasons why people might need to call Match.com, which is why it is extremely frustrating that there is actually no great way to talk to a human representative. In fact, I couldn't find one way to call and talk to someone, which frustrated me because I didn't want to use an online customer service portal. They offer a live chat option, but only during certain hours and once again through their app and not via the phone or any other platform, which I also found frustrating.
I had a question about my overall experience and some technical issues and wanted to speak with someone in person. I am a bit old-fashioned, but I prefer to be able to explain everything to someone in person, not via the keypad. That is partially why Match.com was probably not working out for me, but everyone seemed to be online dating, and I thought it would be a good fit for me. Clearly, it is not, especially given the terrible experience I had with customer service.
First, I tried to call this number, but that was a failure. Every time I tried to call it, I got a message that my call could not be completed at this time. Match.com warns that there are fake lines not associated with them, so this was clearly one of them. I did a bit more internet searching and found this number: 1-800-092-6224.
This seemed like it would work at first. A recorded message said thank you for calling Match. It then said, "For help with confirming your account status, press 1. For help managing your subscription, press 2. For all other questions, please visit us on the web at Match.com/help."
I thought I could try to talk to someone about my subscription to get help, but I was met with a recorded message that said, "To manage your subscription, log into your account and click on the gear icon in the navigation bar at the top of the screen. Click on manage account, then manage subscription. Follow the prompts until your page reads your subscription has been answered." Then it cycled back to the same menu.
I tried again and pressed 1 this time. I figured they could direct me to someone else if I could just get to a live agent. However, I received a similar recorded message: "For your account status, log into your account and click on the gear icon in the navigation bar at the top of the screen. Click on manage account, and then manage subscription. Next, enter your password. Finally, click on subscription status."
It then took me back to the original message, and I gave up. To get any help, I will have to use the online chat option, but at least now I know how to end my subscription because this isn't going to work for me.
