Dead VRBO agent,**this request refers to the reservation * HA-PTFNOO: an apt. in Golden, BC, Canada, from Aug * **-**, ****, owned by Marie-France Lessor.**One family member has fallen ill, we had to cancel the booking right away.*I cancelled the reservation within less than * min. after the booking because of a divergence in currency.**I have contacted the owner several times. Mrs. Lessor has already refunded the deposit of *** CA$ and asked me to settle the conflict with you. Unfortunately I cannot call the owner because all the contact info and access details are no longer available to me in the VRBO app.**Here is what happened:*While I did the booking process with the VRBO app from Canada, the total cost incl. the deposit amounted to about *** dollar (which I double checked was about ***€ * deposit). However, after I agreed to pay the dollar amount, I was suddenly informed that the total amount that my credit card was charged with was ****.** CA$, which then was mentioned for the first time (and which is ***€ * deposit, which is beyond the limits of our budget). I did immediately cancel the booking within less than * min.**What probably happened is:*the VRBO app didn't distinguish clearly between US$ and CA$ currency. It just used the $-sign, although I had logged in from Canada. Therefore I couldn't know for sure that the stated amount I agreed to pay wasn't in Canadian dollar, but in US dollar, which is more expensive.**Again I do apologize for the confusion and inconvenience.**So far I was refunded the deposit of *** CA$.*Please let me know whether you are going to refund the rest of the charged amount, which I cancelled immediately after the booking (***,** CA$). *How much are you going to pay back and when?**With kind regards,*Thekla
