My social security card has been lost in a public area, I have no means of getting it back and when calling any of the three credit bureaus I have never been able to get through the automated system to file a fraud report. I have my social security number memorized, but when I input that, or my name, I am told by the automated voice that the information cannot be verified. I'm really at a loss, I need this fraud alert placed because I have no credit so far so any hits I take from a thief using my number to open new lines with decimate my credit score because I don't have a positive one built up that can take the hit. What do I do, who do I call? Can I even put a fraud alert on my social security number if I don't have any credit under it, and what happens if a thief beats me to it and makes an account first, can I even dispute that? My social security card was in my wallet- if it has been stolen the person has access to my drivers license (a photo ID), my phone number (I put in there in case I lost it, hoping someone might call me to return it) and well... the SSN, so if someone does want to steal my identity they have all the tools to do so.... help, please!!
